I can definitely hear differences in my music through different headphones. I hear differences in sound signatures, for example, my SRH840's sound more natural than my WS55's, have a larger soundstage, more emphasized mids, and better instrument separation. I just don't know if these differences...

In your opinion then, with my most expensive headphones being the SRH840's, are they justifiable enough for their price compared to the WS55's in terms of sound quality and features that I should keep them?

I don't know if it's just me, but I can hear the guitar equally clear through my apple earpods and SRH840's. There is definitely better intrument separation with the SRH840's, though.

I personally thought the SRH840's had slightly better instrument separation, and the cannons resounded SLIGHTLY longer than the earpods. Was there supposed to be a significant difference?

Mostly songs featuring a trumpet, piano, or guitar part, but other than that, no. I still believe that my earpods are great, and could compete with my SRH840's in terms of sound quality. It's just so hard to justify the SRH840's because of this reason.

If the SRH840's are so detailed, please give me an example of something that is audible with the SRH840's, and not the apple earpods.

I was just going to recommend the Alpha Dogs! I personally don't own them, but I have read that they are comfortable, have great instrument separation, supreme sound quality for the price. I would also recommend the mad dog 3.2's, or DT770 pro's, which are extremely comfortable, and a good bang...

What about semi-open headphones? Which in the HD series has the most prominent bass (and mids)?

Okay, so would you use an online converter for previously bought iTunes music?

If I can't tell the difference between a FLAC and .wav, then why not convert to .wav?

What would you suggest for converting iTunes files then? .wav converters?

That's the problem. I already purchased the songs on iTunes, and don't want to spend an additional $1.49 for the same songs.

I don't know what type of mp3 I bought, they were simply albums and songs from iTunes on my phone.   I hear an astronomical difference from well recorded songs through my SRH840's! My earpods reproduce poorly recorded music better then the Shures, and I guess I'm afraid that the earpods...

I listen mainly to music bought on iTunes, from my laptop and iPhone 5.   For example, "Act Now" by Arkasia+PIXL sounds like crap, because of the hissing.
