Crack;Bottlehead OTL
Thumbs up! For specific persons, not necessarily more expensive amps are a lot better than cheaper ones! Listen to you ears but not others words! And don't fear to speak out your feelings!- Lucaswonder

How would the HD800 sound without an amp?
Can't agree more! I'm actually listening to my HD800 directly through my macbook pro's headphone jack and it sounds at least 80-90% as good as on my woo audio wa6 (without AB testing, which I never bothered). My ears are not dumb, and it's just I don't need to listen on their "best" performance...- Lucaswonder

Review of the Little-Dot MKIII Tube Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp
Sorry for bumping into this old thread. have you compared little dot MK III with darkvoice 336 (SE?) or bottle head crack? Those are also highly recommended for HD800. I don't know which one to choose (no where to try), their price is pretty close too.- Lucaswonder

WA3 vs WA6
Sorry I didn't notice that this thread is that old. I'm really glad you jumped and I appreciate the sharing of your experiences. I have bought the wa6 based on your post, and I do value the speed and detail over the warmer tonality.- Lucaswonder

How is woo audio wa6 compared with wa3 with HD800?
Searched all threads here and find no useful information. Someone choose wa6 but else choose wa3 for HD800. But nobody really mentioned both simultaneously. I got my HD800 currently on my Schiit lyr but not satisfied with the "thin" sound compared with hifiman HE-500. But the imaging is indeed...- Lucaswonder

WA3 vs WA6
Got this from Frank (from woo audio) "The WA3 is designed to work well with high impedance headphone like the HD800, and would be a better choice for the HD800. The WA6 would also sound good but would be a better choice for lower impedance headphones." Have you compared both on HD800 (or...- Lucaswonder

HD800 and T1 musings...
Sorry if you've answered this. Have you compared Gilmore lite with schiit lyr for hd800? Originally I bought lyr for my hifiman he-500, feel the highs are little untamed on hd800. have a good holiday and thanks!- Lucaswonder

Q701 impressions thread
So you mean the imaging was changed, in a better way or just being different? I'm trying to ask if it made the imaging better? I have a the HD500 and love its sound, but compared with my B&W805s speakers and HD800, I feel it lacks accurate imaging, especially center stage is not clear.- Lucaswonder

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I have HD800 and HE-500 both are driven by Schiit lyr/Bifrost uber with optical from macbook pro. I know listening is a very subjective experience. But really don't want to keep both. HE-500 sounds full at first listening and is very emotional. But after listening for a while, you feel...- Lucaswonder

Really like my HE-500 except the imaging. Have you noticed improvement with its imaging after the mod? Have you tried the re-grill? Thanks- Lucaswonder
