$299 Roland Mobile UA - USB DAC/amp with S1LKi 1-bit DSP
Wonder if you can set the output to line level in balanced mode. From the block diagrams in the owner manual, it looks like you are stuck going through the volume control/attenuator... seems that would make it difficult to find the 0db unity gain setting. I'm thinking of using this for the...- krikor

$299 Roland Mobile UA - USB DAC/amp with S1LKi 1-bit DSP
If I'm reading things correctly at Roland's website (specifically in the owner manual for the Mobile UA), it appears that volume control is done in the digital domain, correct?- krikor

Well aware of that. The cable repair is in regard to my Koss Porta Pro which have separate conductors for each driver. I may not have been clear in my original post.- krikor

Need to attach a new connector. Cut off the old one to use a balanced connector (yeah I know... CRAZY), but the wires are enameled, Need to strip those and solder to the connector.- krikor

2015 Southeastern Michigan Fall Meet - Impressions
Anybody in the Metro Detroit area have a pair of Grado SR-80e that I could audition for an afternoon? Thinking of grabbing a pair, but not sure due to the comfort issue. I can provide a Beyerdynamic DT880 or DT990 as "collateral". Thanks!- krikor

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
ODAC - that's another one I'm being tempted with right now. The revB is available over at massdrop at a very reasonable price, but I'm not sure it will really be much of a bump up over the HRT.- krikor

Correct. Really enjoy it with the Crack, more so than the DAC section of my Wyred mPRE. Plus it is so painless and easy to use... no nonsense approach to digital conversion, no drivers to muck around with, no power supply, easy to hide behind the equipment, etc. They don't get much fanfare, but...- krikor

Gotta say, my workday has been much more enjoyable the past few weeks since I moved the Crack to my office. Just wasn't listening to it enough (or ever) at home. Been having a blast bounding through a drawer full of 12au7 tubes, a couple of different output tubes and a few cans. Though not sure...- krikor

Curious about the decision to use and sonic differences imparted by a fully discrete analog output on the 4490 vs. an AD8512 op-amp based buffer on the Multibit version.- krikor

Fulla (by) Schiit - News, photos, thoughts, impressions, etc.
I really enjoy the K7XX with the Fulla. They seem to me to be a very good pairing. That and my Koss Porta Pro which are surprisingly good for their price and looks. For whatever reason, I've not really listened to any of my high-z cans like the DT990-600. Will have to give them another go.- krikor

Here are some details on how to get to the PR Community Center. Heading south on Woodward, take the first right after 10 mile/696 interchange onto Millington (there is a no right turn sign, but it is only in affect from 4pm-7pm). The community center is at the end of the road - just turn right...- krikor

I'll throw my HRT Music Streamer II in the bag. Just need a USB source to play music. My guess it will be one of personal taste given that the DAC in the Element is essentially the ODAC2, and original ODAC was a fairly well-respected DAC on its own. I'll also have my LH Labs Geek Pulse...- krikor

FYI to all (and zabzaf correct me if you already have this covered)... If you have a spare power strip or two or three, you might want to bring them along, as well as an extension cable. I've three power blocks (two six-outlet Furman SS6B clones and one Welborne 4-outlet) that I will be...- krikor
