Wonder if you can set the output to line level in balanced mode. From the block diagrams in the owner manual, it looks like you are stuck going through the volume control/attenuator... seems that would make it difficult to find the 0db unity gain setting.   I'm thinking of using this for the...

Well aware of that. The cable repair is in regard to my Koss Porta Pro which have separate conductors for each driver. I may not have been clear in my original post.

  Need to attach a new connector. Cut off the old one to use a balanced connector (yeah I know... CRAZY), but the wires are enameled, Need to strip those and solder to the connector.

ODAC - that's another one I'm being tempted with right now. The revB is available over at massdrop at a very reasonable price, but I'm not sure it will really be much of a bump up over the HRT.

Correct. Really enjoy it with the Crack, more so than the DAC section of my Wyred mPRE. Plus it is so painless and easy to use... no nonsense approach to digital conversion, no drivers to muck around with, no power supply, easy to hide behind the equipment, etc. They don't get much fanfare, but...

Trying... hard... to... resist... Bimby purchase.    If the black units become available again that should be all that's needed to push me over the edge .

Gotta say, my workday has been much more enjoyable the past few weeks since I moved the Crack to my office. Just wasn't listening to it enough (or ever) at home. Been having a blast bounding through a drawer full of 12au7 tubes, a couple of different output tubes and a few cans. Though not sure...

Curious about the decision to use and sonic differences imparted by a fully discrete analog output on the 4490 vs. an AD8512 op-amp based buffer on the Multibit version.

  I really enjoy the K7XX with the Fulla. They seem to me to be a very good pairing. That and my Koss Porta Pro which are surprisingly good for their price and looks. For whatever reason, I've not really listened to any of my high-z cans like the DT990-600. Will have to give them another go.

Unfortunately, I do not know if they have WiFi with Internet access. That's one thing I didn't think to check on when I was last there. I'll post as soon as I get up there and find out.
