on the contrary, I've heard that the sportas sound significantly worse than the portas...haven't tested them myself, though. Makes sense, considering that the sporta's retail is much lower than the porta's.

Sennheiser HD 580 Back in stock at Newegg

hmm, though I'm tempted, I won't be getting an amp for another year or so (finance matters), and having the HD580 without an amp is just, well, wasted. Or maybe I can buy it now and put it in storage...

    The Incredible $20 Headphone Amp

the WoW amp is actually an all-purpose amplifier. It's not limited like the Blockhead, or any other super-expensive amps. Not only can it amplify sound, it can amplify bodyparts as well. So redshifter's idea to keep it in his pants might actually be ingenious.

    The Incredible $20 Headphone Amp

it's not "restoring" spaciousness that got lost in the compression - it's merely "filling it up" with other stuff. But if you enjoy it, good for you! That's what matters the most - whether you can enjoy the music or not.

Best headphone setup for DVD on computer

the problem is that no matter how good a headphone and amp you get, if your source sucks, the sound isn't going to be good. Oh, and the mdr-v300 is supraaural. The Beyers are circumaural. They are absolutely not the same size...makes all the difference in the world, unless you have huge ears.

    The Incredible $20 Headphone Amp

Quote from IGN: "SRS says that you could use this small box, or the technology in general, with any stereo source. I would keep it on cheapo desktop speakers, where it is needed the most. If you have high-end computer speakers you might want to skip it simply because your system will already...

Best closed headphones for big ears?

jessica> CLOSED is the word. Oh, and I wouldn't recommend the v6 with beyer pads. I mean, I'm assuming that the v6 with beyer pads is the same size as the dt250with beyer pads, and the beyer is too small if you have big ears.

another question about getting new headphones.

Quote: i question the comfort of the beyers. Is that speaking from experience or speculation? Admittedly, if your head is sensitive to clamping, even the beyers might feel uncomfortable. But I'm pretty sure almost everyone here would agree with me that Beyerdynamic makes some of the...

    HELP! Senn. HD590 among others....

let's put it this way. The senns don't make any headphones that sound really good unamped. The HD590 is as close as they get, but unamped, there are better.

another question about getting new headphones.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: if you plan on getting an amp sometime in the future, the HD590s are a good choice. If not, do not buy it. It just doesn't live up anywhere close to its potential without an amp. Also, I truly hope you have auditioned it without an amp. Without an...

don't explode your head, dabblerblue. the SR80s are just out of the question. It has a good sound, but no one would ever use them for DJing, sound engineering, or the like. Still keep on considering the Beyers. They are meant and built to be monitor headphones, not audiophile headphones, and it...

    ksc-35 mod and imressions.

Nope, no pictures. I don't have a cam handy, and I can't be bothered to borrow one. Besides, it's not interesting visually. I got my ksc-35s a few weeks ago, and thought it was good, but was unsatisfied about the sound. In short, the bass was a bit too strong for me. Although it was good...

    Best gaming headphones?

halcyon, how does the HFI-650 sound, in terms of type, not quality, of sound? Do they accentuate the treble or the bass more, or are they fairly neutral? Are they more "dark," or "bright"? Thanks.

    HELP! Senn. HD590 among others....

to be perfectly honest...HD590s are "try before you buy" phones. Especially if you're going to run them without an amp. In fact, I could say for certain that they are overkill if you never plan on getting an amp. Although the impedance is lower than the HD580 or 600, they still...leave much to...

    Best gaming headphones?

I wouldn't recommend the HD570s for gaming. Actually, I heartily disapprove of it. The sound is much too laid back for gaming, and my impression of its sound without an amp is that it is in general a loose-sounding, unimpressive can. On the same note, I wouldn't recommend the grados for gaming...
