    I believe they use the same DAC chip so sound quality should be similar. I would go with the SB ZXR if you can can it for significantly less.

    You should avoid EQing a frequency up as this will cause clipping. Try lowering the rest of the frequencies instead.

    Onboard audio is generally very low quality; you would likely hear a large difference between integrated audio and even a cheap solution like the Fiio E10. If you don't need an amp, I found the Hifimediy Sabre dac to be a night and day improvement from integrated for cheap.

    I think AKG K/Q701/2s would be great for your needs, also tweaking them for a smoother frequency response using a graphic EQ works wonders in my opinion.
