To add to the previous post, the Schiit Vali goes great with the K702 if you are interested in a tube amp.

Fiio E10 does a decent job for your budget.

I believe they use the same DAC chip so sound quality should be similar. I would go with the SB ZXR if you can can it for significantly less.

You should avoid EQing a frequency up as this will cause clipping. Try lowering the rest of the frequencies instead.

Onboard audio is generally very low quality; you would likely hear a large difference between integrated audio and even a cheap solution like the Fiio E10. If you don't need an amp, I found the Hifimediy Sabre dac to be a night and day improvement from integrated for cheap.

I think AKG K/Q701/2s would be great for your needs, also tweaking them for a smoother frequency response using a graphic EQ works wonders in my opinion.

I would recommend the 8320 headphones from Monoprice. They are less than $30 shipped and sound amazing for the price so I think they would be great for your first foray into higher quality portable audio.
