I expect good isolation from a closed headphone...Why use closed, right? Mt220's isolation was below average for me that's all, just a tad better than Denon D2000 As for sound quality I agree with you they're worth the msrp and then some..- Sadkmf

you say comfort&weight are pros of MT220, it is interesting since they weigh 430 grams. Weight and the lack of proper isolation was why I got rid of them..- Sadkmf

tube or ss amp for HD800 ?
What I was trying to suggest was, you should get a feel of the headphones first with a modest setup before spending a lot of money.. There's a lot of free-flowing information about amps, dacs and setups..It might take a lot of time, and cost a lot of money to get what you want.. Cheers.- Sadkmf

tube or ss amp for HD800 ?
I guess you've not heard the HD800 yet, I suggest you spent some time with it before spending 1000s of dollars.. A refined source is very important with the HD800, maybe even more than an amp.. You should do some research for both source and amp.. As a start, I suggest you get a IFI Micro...- Sadkmf

Does being more warm = musical?
Musicality is mostly related to Timing i.e. PRaT and is about the natural and right flowing of music.. Euphony is the pleasant coloration of music, which is usually an added warmth to the mids..- Sadkmf

Icon Audio HP8/MP 3
Got it...thanks a lot. That lack of bass of HD800 is a shame actually, for a headphone that gets 95% of everything right..It's 5% short of being an excellent all arounder..- Sadkmf

Thanks.. I got the A18, the problem is I crave more impact especially for rock and electronic.. If a tube amp can't give me that, I will have to spend the money for a complementary headphone like He-560 or LCD2- Sadkmf

AKG K701/702.. DT660 if you don't mind closed. Audio Technica AD900 is another option, but that is discontinued too. See this comparison for details: http://www.head-fi.org/t/634201/battle-of-the-flagships-58-headphones-compared-update-audeze-lcd-2-revision-2-6-4-13- Sadkmf
