Open headphones with good sub bass?
If you can get them, they are quit scare right here now. Bass is awesome though. In that depart they blow away a LCD2 or HD6XX series right away- 00headphone00

The ananda and the moondrop I just listened at the store, comparing them with the FT5. The HD650 I have still. The FT5 suits "not too bright" and entry level. If you don't mind/like a bigger bass and mid forward (<1K) sound, they are really worth trying. The Ananda is more V-shaped, so more...- 00headphone00

I think most people experience brightness or sibilance especially if there are large sharp peaks and dips in the FR, no so if it's smooth but extended indeed. I didn't found the FT5 having excessieve peaks/dips, I experience it as quit smooth. I found the Ananda very smooth despite it has...- 00headphone00

I found the Hd650 brighter then the FT5. The HD600 is even brighter. I am not sensitive for upper treble brightness though, I even like it to have some sparkle. There are more reports of the FT3 being bright, I think the FT5 is worth trying.- 00headphone00

The highs I found a bit smoother and darker with the suede pads. Everything is a bit more mellow/rounder with the suede pads. The pleathers are more tight and straight forward. to be honest, I also had some tracks in the beginning where the highs were a bit sharp, but when I switched back to...- 00headphone00

Interesting! Another one who gives the 650 the edge on soundstage! Very interesting. Thinking about it, I think it has not much to do with the DACs/Amps (assuming using decent ones) but the physical fit. Moving them on my head significantly changes the soundstage. I found the HD650 more...- 00headphone00

That's a shame! Especially if it was a test unit and someone/somewhere tried to repack and reusing the seal. Not possible someone thought I will sell the test unit as "opened box" and someone found the box and thought it was brand new? It sounds a bit too dumb to be done on purpose . . . Maybe...- 00headphone00

I remember trying them in someone their laptop. I was surprised how dull it sounded. They nowhere had the dynamic even my cheap smartphone delivers. They sounded dark and flat on it. I found them also very closed like between my head again. My own smartphone just misses bass, my own desktop pc...- 00headphone00

Interesting how some people experience the FT5 as not very open and small soundstage, while others experience them as very wide. I tried back my HD650 (which I find sounding wider than the HD660S2) a few days ago. It still is a very competent headphone, especially the correct tonality and just...- 00headphone00

The king doesn't exist as its a very personal choice in my opinion. The FT5 for sure belongs to a "must try" in this price range especially as their sound signature isn't really represented well within this price range. If you like their signature it can outperform a lot more expensive...- 00headphone00

Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread
When I tried the FT5, 660S2, 650(new pads) and Ananda out in the shop, they were connected to a FIIO K7 and a external DAC (I didn't remember this one). So all on the same amplifier. To be honest, I like the HD650 (and probably the 660S2) more on a high impedance source like an OTL tube amp or...- 00headphone00

Not bloomy, but boomy. Like it's very present but not deep, no rumble/subbase just boom boom . . Hard to describe, little like you push al the HD650 mid-bass in together in a 100Hz spike instead of a smooth bump.- 00headphone00

Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread
Are you sure you used the suede pads on the FT5? The leather pads are give significant smaller soundstage. I compared the HD660S2, HD650, FT5 and Ananda a week ago. I found the HD660S2 with a gap, the most closed and smallest (in your head) in soundstage, much smaller than a HD650. The FT5 were...- 00headphone00

Great review. The comparison with the HD650 is pretty much also my experience except the 650 didn't sounds veiled for me I gave another try with the leather pads, but I agree with this reviewers opinion, they make the soundstage smaller, they sound more closed in where the suedes are wider and...- 00headphone00

I don't notice this issue at all on my set, maybe just lucky . . . Am I the only one who likes the suede pads more than the leather ones? I tried the leathers and for me the bass slams too hard with these. The suede sound more relaxed in that department. It's like a full round bass vs a very...- 00headphone00

I just bought the FT5. Up to now I am very amazed by them. For more than a decade, I had and still have the HD650. These suited me very well, I really like the very natural sound of them. They are extremely neutral with a slight warmth in the mid bass. The combination of the slight warmth and...- 00headphone00

The Ultimate HD600 vs HD650 Poll [CLOSED: HD600 Wins!]
Voted for the HD650 It seems I am the only one who find the HD650 little on the bass light and brighter side? The HD650 doesn't sound dark or 'veiled" to me imho. The bass is really well controleld and the top is crystal clear. I tested the HD600 in the shop once, and in comparisom it...- 00headphone00

Sennheiser hd555 vs hd600
I have the HD650 tested with an old vintage amplifier with a high impedance headphone output (pitty I don't know how much). And the difference is huge! Much and much fuller sound and smoother highs. My next upgrade is a amplifier with high output impedance.- 00headphone00

Sennheiser hd555 vs hd600
After some days of listening I can conclude that the HD650 don't have less bass than the HD555 but more controlled. I really like the HD650 now, they sound outstanding with almost everything.- 00headphone00

Sennheiser hd555 vs hd600
After one evening listening, I can say everything sounds much clearer and I can hear things I never heard before. The HD650 are very detailled and lively. That's really great. The only thing for now, they sound a bit thin/bright in (compare to my old HD555). The 650 are brighter and have...- 00headphone00

Sennheiser hd555 vs hd600
I have bought the HD650! It's sounds nice, lot clearer than the HD555 and a bit more treble. Only the (mid) bass is a bit weaker than the HD555, but I think I need a headphone amp for it, it's now connected to a AV receiver.- 00headphone00

Sennheiser hd555 vs hd600
I'm using a sennheiser HD555 for 5 years now and I like their sound very much. I like especially their full and neutral sound that's never harsh or artificial. But there's more and I'm thinking of an upgrade to a senneiser HD600. How do a sennheiser HD600 compare to a HD555? Has the HD600...- 00headphone00
