A headphone tribute goodbye to Tyll from Innerfidelity

My god, just how long have been? First time I ever know about you was like 2003 when I was asking my parents for headphones for my birthday present. For more than two decades, you pretty much defined this hobby. Thanks for the excellent amplifiers, headphone information and all other...

Maybe someone can buy stuff from this guy and check for the address. Then again, it's been really long while and he may have changed the address.

Klipsch High End Over Ear-your input appreciated

Thank you so much for the clarification. I retract what I said in earlier in the thread. HP-3 is definitely on my radar again, and I hope you will have better luck on your next job.

Which one has greater dynamic range, CD or LP?

I highly doubt the number of people who would benefit from higher dynamic range is majority. The current environment is just too terrible (played from small bluetooth speakers, etc) that most people just won't notice.... well.. that assumes the music itself is not compressed from the first place.

Klipsch High End Over Ear-your input appreciated

It seems the main reason why they fired @Musiqlovr was for price dispute. Steve wanted original $999, management wanted more. With new MSRP, you can guess who won and who got kicked. I seriously do not think Klipsch deserves anyone's money folks, here in this forum and everywhere else.

Recommendations on dac/amp for Beyerdynamic T1.2

You really want very warm sounding amp for Beyer T1, especially 1.2 version which is even more harsh than the first generation. With high impedance nature of Beyer, you can go for tube amps. Consider things like offerings from Woo Audio or Little Dot (official webpage ...

    CanJam @ RMAF 2017 (October 6-8, 2017) Impressions!

It's been a while that I have attended any audio shows. For Rocky Mountain, this is my first time in Denver here after 14 years later. I really did not have much time so I only could visit headphone area only, which really only matters. The condition of the meet was way too loud to make...

I am so glad you mention this particular Koss model. I really wish people would pay attention to companies that actually deserve their money....

    Beats Studio3

No, I don't think anyone here is trying to compare Beats to Sennheiser HD800. The biggest issue with Beats is that its headphones are simply utterly noncompetitive against pretty much any other headphones that are available in same price range AND lower. The cold hard truth is that Beats...

    It's got to stop!

So, here comes the crucial reason why does this thread exist, and we continue to have whining about expensive audio products and so much resistance from people. See.... all of these examples, one common point is that the manufacturers of these expensive products can confidently say... 1)...

    MQA: Revolutionary British streaming technology

Before even we talk about technical aspects, it is now perfectly clear that this particular 'format' is going nowhere economically. Meridian wanted to use format to sell their DACs more. It seems this is not going to sell more DACs nor be successful as a format.

    The F/S Area Sucks

It really went downhill. Once I tried to sell one of my Sennheiser headphones, and I ended up getting so many reports from people (who were not going to buy it anyway) and moderators asking me for the initial receipt to check if I was selling stuffs for profit. I felt disgusted and decided to...

Klipsch High End Over Ear-your input appreciated

You are selling headphones that cost 400~1100 dollars.   For many people, it's expensive investment, and they expect headphones to be last long enough. But of course, since headphones interact with human bodies, they do wear off and damaged.   What a lot of companies keep forgetting is that...

Is the Head Fi Market missing Retail Stores? (in the US)

1.Population density is far low compared to many Asian market => bad for retails.   2.Very hard to compete with online stores => again bad for retails, specially niche markets.   You know, this is really traditional audio dealers' job in the first place, but for many reasons, they are not...

Audeze's 2016 revamp, re-voiced and re-engineered headphones, the entire line (except Sine and EL8 Ti; these have updates as standard)

Actually for HD800, the very first batch had lesser problems with 6 kHz spike. Because they could not get reliably obtain diaphragm material, Sennheiser had to change it to different one after the first few batches, which unfortunately have worsen 6 kHz spike. Regardless, HD800S is a huge...

DAC (other than Modi 2 Uber) with USB and Toslink, under $200

Button is indeed loose, but it does not mean it will easily fell off. I am using my Gungnir (more expensive Schiit DAC, which also has a loose button) for a year now, and the button never caused trouble. Sharp edges... yeah that can be an issue tho..   However I really do not think you can...

    LP Frequency Range Kills CD

As a one doing needledrop on my vinyl recordings, here is a tip: If you capture noise signature on 'silent' part of the records, then apply noise reduction, almost all of those high frequency responses magically disappear. They are not definitely coming from the microphone. They are noise...
