For the Tidal fans out there there is a new feature: AI playlists! Powered by ChatGPT so it can do other things besides your kids term papers. Let’s give it a whirl… First pitch softball - “Dance songs of the 1990s” Besides Twice being a Kpop band probably not alive when the rest of the...

I know this is the place where folks post about the best of the best in IEMs - and if price is indicative of quality then this MUST be the bees knees. Seen at Harrods while on vacation in London you can be an owner of these Klipsch wireless earbuds for a tidy sum of £36,261! Forget the midsize...

If it is anything like the LP6 Ti + Brise Tsurunagi + Focal Utopia 2022 I just got then it must be GLORIOUS! Bass for days. Besting even the mighty DMPZ-1 to my amazement. It has me saying I can‘t believe it‘s not desktop! Will be having a lot of fun with this combo in the coming days…

Finally had the time to get up one of the longer summit trails accompanied (appropriately enough) by the Apx. Funny thing is the set really shines with country music - best I’ve heard on an IEM. Even better than Red Halo which is funny when you think of it as vocal-centric but the little details...

“Kayaking in the sea is potentially much more damaging to your gears than a rainstorm, salty water can kill your electronic devices very quickly.” I regret any confusion about the wording of my post - I meant the aquapacs (heavy duty packs you use to stow keys/phone when out on the sea) do a...

This is a question I think I have a good handle on - as I have logged thousands of miles on jogging/hiking trails here in Hawaii over the years. Especially since you invoke the worthiness of equipment to withstand sweat - because as a big dude living in the tropics the ability of my gear to...

Had an awesome time outside with the PMG Apx today. Normally it’s tough for the visuals to surpass the audio. Today was not that day The only thing missing was a frog and a banjo!

I bit the bullet and decided to try the Apx from PMG audio. The design is unlike anything I’ve encountered to date: eleven custom-built drivers: one Rectangular Planar for the bass in conjunction with one 10mm DD, 8xBA for the mids and one Round Planar for the treble. A few words on how I’ve...

Fei Wan and N30 have been stellar companions on this long and crazy trip to Bangkok. Nothing like chilling after long days slurping down khao soi (the best soup in the world, imo) and gazing at the marvelous construction of the temple sites. Everything has been a delight to see except for...

dCs Bartok is the best desktop amp I’ve used. Absolutely no noise and of course the ring dac is stellar. What sets dCs apart is that once in a great while they do software updates and *poof* your dac just sounds better and it’s not a subtle difference. I once had a chord Dave/Mcscaler combo as...

I had the nicest customer service interaction with Fir Audio today. For some reason, the RN6 I bought at Bloom gave me an idiodyncratic reaction - it was like a weird earache but only after using them. I suspect it Is due to a small RN6 shell swimming and bobbing away in my Marianas trench of...

Rob Watts is the Chord engineer who’s responsible for millions of taps in his DACs and digital samplers. Rod Stewart is the bloke who had millions of folks tapping their feet to “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?’’ Rob Watts juggled multiple Chord electronic model launches. Rod Stewart juggled multiple...

With Chord gear (at least with the Dave/Mscaler) when I had it, there‘s a video switch that cuts down on the delay for video playback so there’s no lip sync delay.

Keep in mind that a lot of great desktop gear can be re-purposed for 2 channel should you opt to go down that rabbit-hole. If you have a good DAC, just add some active speakers and you’re set. Portable gear has come a long way in recent years but, not even my beloved DMP-Z1 can compete with my...

There is a fix for this and unless most of the recommendations on this thread it costs about $12: Liquid Tape. I have the same issue with my Orpheus and through trial and error found this to be the best solution. I have used this for months without any negative consequences for my IEMs. You...

Comment by 'MaggotBrain' on listing 'UM Red Halo FE'

This is one of the best IEMs on the planet for an outstanding price. I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with Wazzupi and can assure you he is outstanding. I love my Red Halo so much I just had it reshelled to custom (which Unique Melody does for a reasonable fee) or otherwise I would have happily...

    |warrenpchi said: |I came across a story once where she spent an extra $1 million on the audio for A Star Is Born (presumably out of pocket) to make sure it was decent quality. You’re right - it was the first Dolby Surround Sound movie so they remixed the tracks to get that enveloping sound so...

Off the dome, I’ve got: Prince Marvin Gaye The Beatles James Brown Elton John Daft Punk Madonna Tom Petty Led Zeppelin …and Barbra Streisand. One of these things is not like the other I know but that voice is amazing. The movies are great too (Funny Girl. Star is Born) and I am almost done...

I think the album as a format is part of the issue with the non-completeness (I don’t think that’s a word but you know what I mean). Lot of the great soul singers of the 60s would have albums as afterthoughts - Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye are two of the best singers of all time bar none - but it...

Violator was so ahead of its time - that album and De La Soul’s Three Feet High & Rising were the ones I had the most trouble leaving off my list. Good to see Sign O’ The Times getting some love - and bringing double albums is a sneaky way of getting more music to bring!
