Grado e Series
This is what I found, too. It had been about a year since I owned the SR225i and what remember is exactly what you described. They almost sound like they've already been burned in and if they haven't, most likely scenario, this is going to be one heck of a can for 200 bucks.- zapcovirtuoso

Hyperbole, bro. They're not PSKi light years ahead but that extra $90 goes a long way as far as refinement, detail retrieval, and overall sound quality is concerned. And they're not even burned in yet like the MS1i was and yet they sound like they're already burned in.- zapcovirtuoso

The SR225e is sounding more dynamic than the earlier model. I'm not sure it's for the better yet though. I took delivery of them today. I've got less than 5 hours on them so far and yet they sound light years above the burned-in MS1i's I just sold. I'm hoping the highs will subside soon...- zapcovirtuoso

Ha ha ha, well they must've gone and changed the meaning of SR since then because I just asked them a few days ago when I was inquiring about a headband replacement. Too me it's still Sub Reference.- zapcovirtuoso

Everybody tripping on any headphone, including Grado, that has too much sibilance, lack of this, lack of that, there is a very easy remedy. Get yourself a real nice car audio EQ with a comparable power supply, not the ******** software that's available out there, and your sibililance, lack...- zapcovirtuoso

You need to qualify your statement. How many hours did you put on them before you reached your conclusions? You expect us to believe that Grado deviated from their signature sound across the board as you described? Not likely.- zapcovirtuoso

Judging by their use of 'i' for improved I'd assume that 'e' stands for enhanced. I know SR is Stereo Reference. I used to think it stood for Sub Reference being that the Prestige line is below the Reference line.- zapcovirtuoso

Headphone amp with a built in equaliser?
I went with my Zapco SP7-SL powered with a Meanwell power supply and Iota DLS-45 power supply for the Meanwell. It's a lot of gear just for an EQ but it allows for a nice desktop 7 band analog EQ for the Grado325is. In my opinion an EQ for these cans is mandatory. Especially around the 2kH and...- zapcovirtuoso

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...
Schiit Modi DAC to Zapco SP7-SL to the Project Sunrise II to Grado Alessandro MS2i. SP7 is powered by an Iota DLS-45 and Meanwell SD 50a-24 power supplies. EQing Grado cans is pretty much mandatory in my book. Excellent sound quality, I'm happy with this rig for now. I'll post...- zapcovirtuoso

Adding a car audio EQ to any Grado headphone
This is going to be a strong first post. Any Grado owner that has SQ issues with Grado's obnoxious forward midrange and high frequency signature, I highly recommend adding an external EQ from the car audio realm. I went with the Zapco SP7-SL powered by a Meanwell sd- 50a 24 power...- zapcovirtuoso
