Thanks for your replies!   I've tried it on a number of pcs now, so I hope a replacement set fixes this. If not, I think I found a design flaw!

Really strange. Okay well maybe I should just exchange them for another pair and see if have the same issues. Can you remember if you used the included mixer, or if you used your own? Or did you plug in the 3.5mm straight into the PS3?
