    Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club

Maybe the r10 is just not the ideal headphone for metal.. But going for a dmp-z1 is never wrong if you have the cash 😄 Congrats on the nice setup @kiling92

Is a battery replacement easy to do - just open the back and change it, or is soldering required?

Hi, I am situated in Europe and if any fellow EU-head-fier is willing to sell her/his Oriolus Traillii, please let me know. I would also take just the IEMs, the cable or other accessories are not that important.

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

Guys, what do you think about the USB-connection on the WM1Z? Is it as good as the internal playback or is it inferior sound wise? I didn't even notice the USBs excistence until I tried it out recently, because I bought a camera connection cable for my iphone for photos and stuff and I found...

    Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club

Thanks that would be very interesting indeed @goldwerger as I was wondering about the AC and how it compares to the r10, especially in the mids, vocals and treble. I am listening to all sorts of music but mainly with vocals (not classical or opera but rather pop, rock, alternative etc.)...

Thanks for your comparison @kiling92 I guess I'll keep searching for a r10 then

The Continuation Of The Sony Walkman 1Z/1A Thread!

Still worshipping my wm1z, have tried some nice daps and DACs lately but these Sony players have some secret sauce ...no other maker can get that natural sound somehow. Its not just bass/mids/treble but there is something else going on that is not easy to grasp, the Sony sound is special and...

    Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club

Hey guys, I am looking for a r10 for some time already, of course they are hard to find, because they are so rare ...and if there is an offer, they are mostly scams. Its like looking for a unicorn. So I am now thinking to give up and considering the closed zmf offerings with the biocell driver...

    Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5

@Hinomotocho I see you use the z5 with small, narrow tips and guess you get a deeper fit that way. It made the z5 too bassy for me.... I would suggest trying the largest Sony tips which provide a shallow fit, as they don't fit inside the ear canal, only close it, which works best for me - I get...

    Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5

I also disliked the fit at first but that was because I thought I have to get a deep fit and never got it right. Once I realised it is designed for a shallow fit I really got to like it and now it makes sense the way it is designed. Maybe it helps you to only put them in lightly with larger...

    Hifiman 801 Appreciation thread

thanks for your information, that is good to know that it is not easy! I will let the original battery then. I am ok with the running time as I only use the player sporadically. Thanks and enjoy your 801 :)

    Hifiman 801 Appreciation thread

Thanks for the information! That is a good playing time! My old and original battery lasts for 4 hours and I was thinking of changing it to a new lithium battery. Was the process easy, just changing and soldering the new batteries on the battery case and that's it? How do you charge the new...

    Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club

Thanks @purk ! I think I'll save for the ES-R10 then! Had the EX-1000, really loved the sound, maybe even more than the ier-Z1R, it just sounded very natural. I guess balanced it sounds even better and grander! Unfortunately the fit was soso, so I ended up selling it...but who knows, maybe Sony...

    Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club

Is there an iem or earbud that can somehow replicate the R10 euphonic tonality at similar technical level? I'm more of an iem listener as I am mostly enjoying music on the go but always wanted to hear the mighty R10. Nowadays those tiny modern iems really cought up in the technicalities and are...

    Sony NW-ZX300

Have seen that nayparm offers a ZX300 mod with large capacitors... did anybody have an chance to listen to one and can say how it compares to a WM1Z/A? I really liked the form factor of the zx300 but thought it couldn't match the sound quality of the bigger brothers
