I put the card back in and installed the daniel_k drivers, no problems so far but I'm not gonna bet anything on it fixing everything either.

Also the sound quality took a nosedive for no discernible reason so I tried restarting again and once again I was left with no audio.   So uninstalled everything, took the sound card out, and now I'm left with motherboard audio.   Thanks creative.

My hd-5 has a swappable battery, and that's why I'm hesitant on buying any newer sony dap because I know the battery will eventually diminish and sony won't do a ******* thing to help you   they make good products but their service is absolute trash

I would if I owned one, but I'm torn between this and the much more expensive zx100 where the battery is a lot bigger. Thing is, my portable headphones of choice are the sony mdr xb30ex, so I question how much of an improvement I'm gonna get in sound quality if I go with the zx100.
