it really just changes it so the volume knob so it works or does not work. its more for if you wanted to run another amp after it and not have to adjust the volume control on both amps.

its just if you want the volume control knob to control the volume on output,(variable) or the volume set at a preset point and the volume knob does nothing.(fixed)

better yet you can listen to them i got my start with planars at the last headphone meet with HE-500 and have been hooked ever since i still love my dt 770's thou best closed headphone i find atleast but i'd love to hear some mad dogs or alpha dogs now maybe even an alpha prime if someone has...

sounds like the asio settings. did you try outputting it by direct sound to see if it is the asio settings?. change the output device to the nfb-11 in your media player and see if that helps.

  if your listening to the NFB 15 at full volume you will not need to worry. you wont have hearing for long.

that would be awesome i don't mind chipping in a few dollars for a meet.

that thing is the schiit i can see me having one in the near future

when i ordered my Schiit Magni it was about 25$ for the import fees for it and when i ordered my Audio GD 15.32 it was 20$ so no NAFTA does not apply. The part that got me the most is that it took 3 weeks to get my magni from California and 4 days to get my NFB-15.32 from china figure that one...

I don't know what a honky wail sounds like, but i like the sound of it.

Have you tried to eq them down at all? I have mine tamed down 1.5 db  at the 8000hz level helps with the treble for for me.
