These were my initial impressions as well. I almost retuned them until I EQ'd them. Without the EQ I can say they sounded horrible..

Well regarding tips, I tried the included long Comply's, and i noticed no difference in treble. I got a better seal and seemed as if the sound became more refined. I think it has something to do with ear shapes when it comes to foam soaking up treble, because i sense NO difference. And after...

Well thats that. Im just glad i read this entire thread pretty much. I was so hesitant on buying another universal but the UM3X have surpassed my old IEM's (TF10,IE8,SE530). And now ill be able to relax for a while...
