V-MODA M-100: Discussion/Feedback, Reviews, Pics, etc.
I would agree with that statement. Even at low volumes, its good to take them off and give your ears a rest. Still, after a couple of hours with the stock pads, I might have to consider the XL.- PurdueAlum

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
For $199, these are hard to beat. I tend to pick these up more than the HD-650's based on comfort alone. Sound signature is not bass heavy at all, but its there. The 7xx is a great headphone, and at $199, you can't really go wrong. Just depends on Red or Black for the color preference. I'd say...- PurdueAlum

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
I agree on the PM-3. I auditioned a pair late last year for a week on the loaner program. When I travel internationally, the Bose Noise Cancelling are my goto. Nothing better on 14 hour flights. Traveling office to office, I really enjoyed the PM-3. They are relatively light, sound great, are...- PurdueAlum

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
I have two, and soon to be three, of the Oppo Digital Stands. They're a little pricey at $79, but also have a nice cord wrap. You will need that for the TH-X00. Can't speak highly enough of these. Very classy! http://oppodigital.com/proddetail.asp?prod=PMHS- PurdueAlum

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
I I own the 650 and am considering the 800s. What amp are you running, as it sounds like you're happy with the results. Thanks in advance.- PurdueAlum

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
I was going to let this go, but I am unable to do so after reading again. As a person who speaks English as a native language, your reply is rude and uncalled for on a forum where the topic is just audio products. Nothing more than audio products and nothing important enough to go off like that...- PurdueAlum

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
I have not, and will probably stay away from mods like this. I really enjoy the sound of the K7xx, but also the comfort. I find them more comfortable than the HD650, and keep going back to the AKGs time and time again for that reason alone. The ear pads, clamping force and overall fit just work...- PurdueAlum

The AKG K7XX Massdrop First Edition Thread
Like you I have the HD650 and K7XX. I agree on both. The 650 reminds me of listening to a good set of room speakers, but more often than not as of late, I find myself reaching for the K7XX. Paired with the Asgard 2, it is just a lot of fun to listen to. I love them both though, and will no doubt...- PurdueAlum

Schiit Mjolnir 2 Listening Impressions
+1 on this. I'm considering the MJ2, but am new to both balanced and tube amps. Still trying to understand the various options for tubes and how the sound changes depending on tube, amp, headphone pairing. Def interested in understanding Gold vs Platinum and Cryo treatment. Nothing like jumping...- PurdueAlum

Thanks for your thoughts on multi-bit. Sometimes new features add little in comparison to the price. Sounds like this is an upgrade worth serious consideration.- PurdueAlum

Headstage Arrow HE: Reviews, Impressions, Perceptions & Sensations
How does the DAC functionality compare to others like the JDS Labs c5D or the Fiio e17? Just curious how running from a PC or Android phone to the DAC affects sound and functionality. Any DAC info is appreciated.- PurdueAlum

Nice first review. It seems you are using the audio input. How is the DAC in the arrow? I currently keep the Fiio E17 with me when I am on the go, so am interested in how the 5TX with the DAC stacks up to the Fiio or other Amp/DAC combos. Thanks in advance.- PurdueAlum

OPPO PM-3 Portable Planar Magnetic Headphones Loaner Program
At first listen I thought the PM-3 was a little light on bass. I guess I like a little mid-bass bump or some rumble in my music. I'm not a bass head, but that warmth is what I'm used to. That said, I ran the PM-3's with a FiiO e17 portable amp, adjusted the EQ to bring the bass slightly above the...- PurdueAlum

OPPO PM-3 Portable Planar Magnetic Headphones Loaner Program
Sadly,my week with the PM-3 is over. @DrawTheLine87 they are on the way and should be there in a couple days. Good news is that my wife gave the thumbs up. She said just buy them, and be sure to order a white pair for me. She either really liked them, or I've worn her down on my audio addiction...- PurdueAlum

AKG K495 Bowers & Wilkins p7 & Klipsch Status Headphones.
I too have a pair of X10's and interestingly enough am considering a good pair of closed back over ears for work, specifically the B&W P7, Klipsch Status, and NAD Viso HP50. My Pacers branded Klipsch Image One's recently broke, and although Klipsch offered to replace them, they are signed by...- PurdueAlum

Klipsch X7i Fit Issues
I've never had any luck with the dual flange tips. My suggestion is to go with a larger tip if you find yourself needing the seal. This is the case with my X10's and the 5 year old Custom-3's. Hope this helps.- PurdueAlum
