DAP has no distortion Topping DX3 Pro has it
My fairly new DX3 Pro+ is suddenly pushing out a distorted signal. Very disappointing. Unplugging the unit restores the sound but only temporary. Distorts on both optical and BT. Could it be the power supply? Or maybe a system re-set is in order? Jumped on this thread in a search. Thanks!- jvandyk

Emotiva GR-1 headphones
I was going to sell my GR1's because they are too bass heavy. But when I applied some EQ, they turned into awesome headphones. I have a nice preset in JRiver for them now and same with portable Media Monkey. Glad I didn't sell them. They are beautiful and easy to drive with portable as well.- jvandyk

Monoprice Monolith Liquid Spark - By Alex Cavalli
MP has the LS in stock again at the full $129 price just FYI. It's strange how they could go all the way down to $62 at one point and then back to $129. But they're available and $129 still isn't a bad value for a solid HPA.- jvandyk

Sennheiser HD599 - first impressions.
I bought a couple of these cables for Momentums. They seem pretty high quality. Connectors are nice and there's some extra insulation on the jacket. But they're not too stiff and tangly.- jvandyk

Focal Listen Pro question
That's good to know. Seen differing opinions on Elegia. They sure are discounted a bunch right now. I have a new Topping L50 amp. Should drive either fine. I notice you have the Listen Pro as your avatar!- jvandyk

Focal Listen Pro question
That's good to hear about these. Thank you! I really don't want a v shaped sounding/bass heavy set like the Meze 99's. And I read the Elegia has a funky FR too, even though they seem like a great deal right now. I do have the JDS Labs EQ. Sounds like the Pro version is worth the extra $50 plus...- jvandyk

Focal Listen Pro question
Thanks for the feedback and answer! I see these are in your list of former headphones. I'm assuming the cushions are replaceable with others on both versions. Also, the Red/Pro version comes with an 2nd longer cable. Doesn't look like they can be used with a balanced/xlr connection?- jvandyk

Focal Listen Pro question
I'm thinking about a pair of Focal Listen headphones(Wired). I discovered two different versions though> 1.) Black ear cushions/silver earcups (Yes this is a wired model not the wireless) 2.) Red ear cushions/trim, black earcups most often shown. Are these actually two different models? Thanks...- jvandyk

Shure srh840A vs focal listen professional
Focal Listen's just came on my radar too. They seem to get better reviews than the more expensive Elegia. Neutral sound with good isolation and comfort for a big head like mine. Looks like a great package. I've got so many models of cans I'm considering it's getting ridiculous. These are on the...- jvandyk

Monoprice Monolith Liquid Spark - By Alex Cavalli
Maybe they "found" some more of them like the SAE1000e cartridge NOS that pops up magically! It still says limit of 20, which to me is simply an invitation for ebay sellers to snap them up for when they can mark them up. Still, very strange they sent me that email just days before.- jvandyk

Interesting that he's not a Sennheiser fan. Sounds like it has just enough power to drive them I guess. Do headphone amps start clipping near the top of their volume control (generally speaking)?- jvandyk

The Stax Thread III
That's good to know about the L300. I actually love the sound of the SR5's but I'm in the market for new cans. My one complaint about the SR5's has always been the lack of much useful deep bass. But I wouldn't trade the clarity and speed they have for that. Adding L300s on the cheap would be fun...- jvandyk

The Stax Thread III
Right. It just has the one 6 pin output and the earspeaker/loudspeaker switch. I also have the SRD4 energizer, which is 5 pin and doesn't need to be plugged in. The SRD7 looks like 6 pins also. It powers some of the new models? Thanks!- jvandyk

The Stax Thread III
Hi folks, I seem to have found a general/recent Stax thread here. My very simple question is can the vintage SRD6 energizer (plugged into an amplifier of course) power any of the modern Stax headphones(L300)? It is the 6 pin unit but it does power my 5 pin SR34 electret headset I've already...- jvandyk
