Yeah, I’ll probablu just stick with the HD 650nand pick up an rHead and D50. Thye seem to pair well with just about every headphone.

I mostly listen to vocals, acoustic, rock, and jazz in that order from most to least.

Interesting, I’ve often read that the LCD 2C is basically a better HD 650.

The HD 800s is a bit too high in terms of price though. Really can’t go north of $1,000 right now.

About my headphone buzz, it's not the DAC or the tubes, I switched out the tubes and when I unplugged the DAC I could hear the noise for a few seconds after. Any clue how to fix this?

For anyone else using a tube amp: Do you sometimes get this weird buzzing sound? I've been having these recently. Not sure if it's the amp, headphones, or DAC. Pretty sure it's either the tubes or the DAC, the DAC is quite old. 

Has anyone tried the 2's with a Darkvoice 336se? I know it's an OTL, but it seems to have lots of current :)

Probably not too much, most of the cost is probably due to the R&D that went into the product.   I would guess about $100, considering economies of scale and stuff.

While sound is subjective, I don't see it as a valid reason to invalidate the upgrade thinking :)   How do you like the O2 + HD 800 combo?

If you can stretch you budget slightly, the wharfedale diamond 10.1 are my highest recommendation from 300-500 bucks

Oh, I think that the Alpha prime is a really good headphone. AVSF demoed it for me on a little marantz and it sounded fantastic!

Maybe you could just put an extra comfort pad/strap on the LCD 2?

@coastal1 , you might like the DT 880. I feel like they perfectly complement each other. You can use the same amp for both of them.
