FWIW, I ended up with denon d7000's   Tried the fostex (didnt like the sound) Tried the hifiman (felt like I was wearing weights on my head)   Denon really was perfect/refined in every way.

I honestly looked at this and its without any real difference. Why are you going with the 990s over other beyer range? ( 770 / etc. ) - You can get a better headphone for the same price leaving beyer

The L2 Is more open than it is closed. You gonna have a bad time if you expect anything else

I liked the quality but cant overcome the fact that the shape of these IEM's really make my ears start hurting after a hour of wear :(

I have these and my only dismay is you cant leave them on 24/7. I bought them to be my fulltime desktop listening solution for office but it really is only for listening sessions a few hours at a time, not 18+ hours a day

SO annoyed with this amplifier. This is the THIRD one I have bought that has had the stupid headphone jack disintegrate. Its annoying because every seller that has them (ebay/amazon) that is not in china seems to have the old stock. As a result, I have to contact fiio and repair them myself.

I had some UE's and I felt the same way. THey were of craptastic quality also.

DT 770's would be my choice

Hi- What exactly is the difference between the stock Fostex's and the Mad dogs? Is it just the leather head strap / earpads / cup?
