    Opamp gain question.

I know an opamp can be configured for a gain of 1 or -1 if it's unity gain stable. But is it possible to configure it for a gain of less than unity? ie. -0.01 gain in an inverting circuit.

Something for Sennheiser users to note..

If your headphones are about 2 years or older, it's time you look at the pads. The foam covering the drivers on both my HD270 and HD570 have disintegrated.. The pads w/ foam have been changed about 2 years back and they aren't cheap either. I paid about S$170 (US$103) for each pair of headphones...

Guide to modifying a Neutrik locking jack.

The force used to release the locking component of Neutrik Locking Jacks is somewhat excessive and may cause the chassis of the (pre)amp to bend. However, the jacks do look wickedly good! I've decided to come up with a simple and reversible solution to this problem. The problem lies with the...

    Big Ben's Amp. My amp.

Some ****: RC filtered + Filtered zener power supply: One channel of the amp. Currently testing the sound of AD843's. Otherwise, I'd be using the OPA627's in the amp. They run hot (60'C) but I'd only heatsink them once I decide which opamp I want to use...

Possible circuit for high current shunt regulator?

As above. I have no formal education in electronics, so I need to check with you guys here. Is the following circuit possible for a high current shunt using a TL431? If not, would it be that the emitter must point to the output? I'm trying to make a dual-voltage shunt regulated psu. Thanks.

    Headphone current & voltage requirements

I need to know how you guys calculate how much current & voltage a pair of headphones need from the output of an amp to sound optimal. ie. Like how you guys came out with the numbers for the K1000's in another thread. I mean, does this come from graphs or is there a formula to calculate from...

    META42 hum..

Hi guys.. Been trying to troubleshoot this hum in a META42 I've got. The hum is present only if the amp is unplugged and powered from a wallwart (regulated or otherwise). Using batteries eliminates it. Plugging a powered source also removes the hum. The power caps are 4 * 470uF Elna...

PSU buffer in Proto42 / META42 type of amps.

I was wondering about the buffer used in such amps. If I've a single EL2001CN buffer for each channel in the amp. Would having a single EL2001CN buffer in the Power supply side be sufficient or would there be a need to stack the EL2001CN on the PSU (ie. match the total current of the 2...

    Thoughts on OPA637BP

As above... Just received my UPS package from T.I. about ½ hour ago and replaced my OPA134PA's. I'll be building a new voltage splitter with the TLE2426's (not available in Singapore at all) I got in the package later tonight. Initial thoughts: Sound: A little more detailed than it's...

    Headphone break-in question

Okay.. I've owned my HD570's for almost a year now. Till date, I've never done a break-in on them. However, seeing that I've built my buffered-multiloop amp for them; I'd like to ask: Would it do any good to try and break them in now? Just basically cranking up the volume to quite above...

    My Meta amp.. (Pics inside)

Yep.. Just finished my Meta 42 amp. Didn't order the PCB from tangent as I felt I could do it on my own.. Want to say thanks to everyone who was involved in the designing of the amp! YES, ppl, that includes you! The difference between my amp and the schematic would be that I'm using...

Meta 42, high pass filter help needed.

Well, hello everyone.. My first post here after observing for a few days. I've just got the parts to build the the Meta 42 amp. I'm following the schematics only so I'd not be using the PCB from tangent. The problems comes with C1 & R2 of the setup. Since it's stated that using a 0.1uF...
