I used to think I needed a lot of bass to enjoy the music.  That was until I purchased my first AKGs and discovered how much i enjoy actually hearing ALL the frequencies.  I'm with you guys.  Bass heavy headphones just annoy me.  

AKGs are masters when it comes to classical.  I just bought a used k501 and I'm driving it with an ALO audio mk3-b amp.  Perfection.

I emailed him two days ago inquiring on getting some k601 pads for my k501s.  Haven't heard anything back yet.  I might try calling today.

I recently got a pair of K501s used and love them them.  They are a great match for my ALO Audio MK3-B amp.  

I can bring an HP-P1 as well as an ALO Audio Mk3-b portable amp if anyone is interested.  I have a pair of LCD-2.2s, some ie80s and Ultrasone Pro 900s--all of which I can bring also.

      I've got a Fostex HP-P1 as well as the ALO Mk3-b to name a few, but  I really enjoy this setup for convenience and portability.  The se530's sound great straight out of the iphone and the Fiio e6 adds that extra little "umph". 

I got really excited about the HE-400 when they first came out.  If you remember, HiFiMan did a "pre-sale" special of $350.00 whereas now they retail for $400.00.  For whatever reason, I decided against it.  I still kick myself for that one.  What made you settle on the he500 as your "Be all end...

Tell me about your ESP950 experience.  I've been looking at these since they've started showing up online for $500 or so.  I'm in love with the LCD-2s right now.  Are the ESP950s significantly different/better?

Any ideas when fostex (or someone else) will come out with an affordable short lighting to usb connector cable?  I checked out the link above, but I'd just assumed not spend $90 for one.

UPDATE: forget that last post of mine. I can confirm that the Fostex HP-P1 is compatable with the iPhone 5 using the supplied lightning to USB cable. However, at least if your unit is like mine and running version 1.0 of the firmware, the device will have a tendency to try to "charge" the iPhone...

Jax, i have the hp-p1 and tried it with my iPhone 5, but when I connect them via the lightning cable, the iPhone simply plays out of the iPhone speakers--it's not recognizing that it's connected to the hp-p1. Any thoughts?
