I actually prefer something closed like the Denon AH-D2000 for electronica or dubstep.

Try changing the tubes on the Little Dot I+. They might be reaching the end of their lifespan.

Yamaha HP3: As far as I know, this is not normal with orthodynamic headphones. I have a feeling this might have been psychological. Were you thinking about modding these, by the way?   AKG K240: You can try posting on the For Sale / Trade Forums. They are relatively easy to mod, however.

I would recommend the Audio Technica AD700 over the former two for mostly gaming with a bit of music thrown in.

At least within my experience with orthodynamic headphones, the transducers do degrade after twenty or thirty years of continuous usage.

I would opt for either the Sennheiser MX580 or the Sennheiser MX581.
