    Audeze LCD-X

Not at all. Not sure what frequency range you define as "sub bass" but assuming 60hz on down. Daft Punk's Doin It Right bass line does 52hz, 62hz and 39hz. The X hits those notes way fuller and stronger than the HE500, particularly the 39hz tone. No contest to me.

    Audeze LCD-X

I'm 2 days in with the LCD-X's driven by a Dacmini. They are replacing my HE500's. I was a bit surprised. Based off everyone's comments, I was expecting something brighter and airy but the top end feels a bit rolled off. It basically sounds like a fuller, bass heavier HE500 in simpleton terms...

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

All you guys needed to do to secure the connection was recess the plug into the headphone a bit more. Maybe a consideration for rev2. If you guys are that confident in the connector's reliability, you should up the warranty for that part only to say 5 years. The connectors were the ONLY...

Have you listened to the EL8s?

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

Keep running them. Mine were initially very bright and thin but really filled out after a few days. Granted, the overall sound signature is still a bit treble forward, but overall it's still balanced and full.

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

My biggest concern at this point with whether or not to keep the El-8c is the connector. I expect a firm snap/lock in place. It is slight at best and not confidence inspiring. You can still nudge the connector forward/backward and it will dislodge the connector on either end. If I'm listening to...

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

His graphs show 10db peaks for DT880 and HD650's, which are much more severe than the headphone's raw response. He states "And the same anomaly will be present in any headphone you could think to test." not trying to argue with ya. Just telling you what I'm reading.

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

I used a signal generator to see if I could perceive a notch around 7.5KHZ with the closed EL8's. With a sine wave, I indeed hear a dip around 7.5khz. With pink noise, I did not hear any dip at all. With music, sounds lovely

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

That's not what I read at all. He says this phenomena occurred for every headphone he's tested, not just the ER4PTs. He mentions HD414, HD650 and even STAX.

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

So someone answer this for me. In this thread, http://www.head-fi.org/t/413900/how-to-equalize-your-headphones-a-tutorial and in previous posts, it states most everyone will experience a peak resonance around 7.5khz when using headphones due to transducer + ear canal + ear drum interactions. So...

    Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015

I’m about 20 hours in with the EL8 closed backs. WOWz!!!! I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of closed phones for the office and the EL8’s are end game for me. I was expecting to return them.   My journey so far: TH600/TH900 - Way, way too V shaped. Hyped bass, harsh, sibilant treble. Ick, how...

I hope to be as well, or else I might be forced to move up to the LCD-XC which I don't want to do.

    CEntrance DACmini DAC/Amplifier Official Thread

I have both an NAD HP50 (37ohms) and HE500 (38 ohms) with a Dacmini and Dacport. I used them both at 10ohms for several years and modded them to 1ohm for the past 6 months. The differences are minimal and both headphones sounded great with either 10 ohm or 1ohm output.

You mean some type of trickle down technology to a cheaper product? At $3k I'm buying new headphones. My DAC appetite runs out after $500.

The Schiitstorm: Next-Gen Magni 2 and Modi 2 Family!

Got my Modi2 uber last night. Man are those aluminum edges and corners sharp. Almost scratched/cut myself.   Did a little listening session last night, and I found the USB input better than the optical input (using a macbook pro). The optical seemed a bit rolled off the top end and lifeless...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

My 3 month closed headphone hunt is over. Using audiophile terms...   P7 = fat n' tubby H6 = light n' fluffy TH600 = shock n' awe   HP50 = perfecto! by a mile. and the cheapest to boot.

    Fostex TH600 Dynamic Headphones

New TH600 owner chiming in. I've been using a HE500 + dacport & dacmini combo for the past couple years. This is a COMPLETELY different sound. Slamming bass, laid back mids, sparkly treble. Definitely U shaped as I've been reading. I do welcome the bass, it's a nice change. Mids are fine. The...
