NEW: Grado SR80x
Don't forget, though, that the Grados are made in the US so they're always going to be fighting an uphill battle to compete on pure value or features/$. I think it's fair to say that nobody buys a Grado for high value or comprehensive features. They want the house sound and the retro looks, or...- HeretixAevum

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
I got mine today, loving the sound but I've tried loosening the clamp force manually by hand, which has worked to an extent, but it's still a bit too tight for my liking. I'm pretty sensitive to clamp, but I also just want to avoid wearing down the pads prematurely as they're far from cheap. I'm...- HeretixAevum

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
I've been away from the headphone game for a few years now and I'm yearning to have a full sized open can again. Both the 58X and 6XX seem like amazing value options, so I'm trying to decide which one is best for me (And I've wanted to try the Senn 600 series for a long time now!). The last...- HeretixAevum

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
Cheers, that would be helpful. The various figures I've come across have been a bit conflicting and inconsistent. You're right, I'm probably fixating too much on the number. What ultimately matters is do I find it comfortable or not, particularly with longer listening sessions. Luckily my...- HeretixAevum

OK, I found some pics here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1NYtKA9OZzql47gakb4Nw3FUlWGkkVrs9 Five hundred and forty grams. Geez... I hope that's an inaccurate measurement.- HeretixAevum

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
So how much do these headphones actually weigh? Everyone says they're noticeably lighter than regular the LCD-2 yet I read somewhere in this thread that they were 520g? Then I go onto headphone.com which says the regular LCD-2 is 490g without cable. Was that 520g number with the cable? I just...- HeretixAevum

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Well I'm running a NFB15.32 which should definitely be enough in the amp department to have it perform optimally. It puts out 300mW at 300 Ohms and is rated for 10V RMS. I think it is considered to be a warm sounding unit owing to the DAC, I would consider replacing it with a NFB11.28 which is...- HeretixAevum

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Disappointing to hear but I appreciate the input, guys. Would either of you be able to say the HD 600 is better in this regard or is it similar? I suppose I should paint a better picture of what I'm after. I want an open circumaural headphone for less than $500AU that not only has the sound I'm...- HeretixAevum

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Can anybody comment or give any impressions about the HD650 in regard to its speed? Seriously considering getting some, but I worry that they'll be a bit sluggish in the bass for things like fast drum blasting etc. I previously owned the DT880 600 Ohm and was quite happy with its clarity and...- HeretixAevum

Brainwavz HM5 Pads (Different Colours / Velour / Leather)
Cool, thanks Zenrap. I'm planning on going with the full pleather version so I would think they'll likely retain the sound better than the hybrids. -
Brainwavz HM5 Pads (Different Colours / Velour / Leather)
Can anyone comment on the regular hm5 pleather pads with the Takstar Pro 80 / Kingston HyperX Cloud? I have the latter and would just like to make it a marginally roomier fit, so I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. Just wondering how it affects the sound and isolation. -

You don't have to hear something to note that it's an imitation, do you? It's not even necessarily a statement of quality.- HeretixAevum

I haven't heard either, but I'm fairly certain the schiit's amp is supposed to put out substantially more power than the O2. That may or may not result in better sound / synergy, but more juice is certainly nice. If I was buying blind I'd go with the stack of schiit for that reason...- HeretixAevum

I wouldn't be using it anywhere near enough to justify going that far up the line, and I wouldn't ever consider it anyway since I think anything after the 80 is just outright of unacceptable design. Grado's super rudimentary, basic build is only 'charming' when you're not spending that much on...- HeretixAevum

Grado e Series
Would the SR80e be a good complimentary headphone to the HD650? Used to have the 225i and miss the house sound, which I am in the mood for on occasion.- HeretixAevum

Yeah I hated that about the 225i. The cable is disproportionately heavy and was a big contributor to it not being a secure fit.- HeretixAevum

Yes, the e series... Typo (I hate touch screen devices sometimes). When the time comes I will go and demo the SR60e, SR80e and SR225e side by side (I'd never buy a Grado blind again). After I get my 650 I might actually consider getting a grado 60e or maybe a MS1e to have laying around as a complimentary headphone.
