It's actually the same PC.   At home I use the mini-usb port, but at work I use the dock. That's the only difference.   The mini-usb port has a missing channel, but the dock port doesn't.

And just for fun, when i dock the E7 on the E9 sound comes out of both the left and the right when using the DAC.
