bookpool.com has a much better price on art of electronics. also, if you have any college bookstores in your area, check there for a used copy. you can usually fine a mint condition, yet used copy, under various physics and engineering classes for about 50 dollars.

Would a regulator aid in balancing the power drain on the batteries? Also, would there be any benefit to putting some caps on my battery supply?

I think I will probably go with the 20xAAA in series plus rail splitter. I do not mind adding a rail splitter, especially since I don't have to worry about unbalanced power drain and whatnot. Regarding the voltage regulator stuff, I *thought* I read about that, but maybe I'm just losing it...

tinning the ends of speaker cable can be counter productive. if the wire is copper or silver, then you are putting a less conductive material on them (solder). if you are using very high gauge stranded copper or silver that frays easily, then a drop of solder on the tip will help them keep...

gold isnt always better. silver is a better conductor than gold, but gold wont oxidize or tarnish. stick with what you've got, although, you might want to build yourself a mini to rca cable, as this would minimize the number of connections.
