    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Not complaining about the openness, just not as open as you would think based on the design, the front foam is definitely one of the culprits as taking it off does definitely physically open things up and I do think no foam works better on the HD 660S2 than say the HD 650 or HD 600 due to the...

    Should i get BEYERDYNAMIC DT 150, 250, or 480?

I'm probably one of the more prevalent DT 480 fans on this website, though I have modded my pair extensively and they take really well to modding and you can actually get proper sub-bass out of them with effort. I am using a 25 ohm pair, my 200 Ohm pair sadly had a bad rattle on one driver that...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Yeah the HD 6xx don’t really feel or sound that open compared to how open they look. Maybe it’s the steel mesh? I could’ve sworn the old black silk ones felt more open. I do have to say the R70x does feel notably more open and sounds more open than the HD 6xx line which was another difference...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Yeah it's very similar to the Sennheiser sound, I would say the main difference would be the treble presentation was a little different, has a hint of the AT flavor but without the brightness. They are hit of miss, but if the earcups work for you they are one of the most comfortable headphones...

    Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Comfort is very important and is sometimes overlooked. I found some headphone simply need a bit of time to get comfortable such as the HD 6xx line, they can be a bit much out of the box and if you don't stretch them can take weeks or over a month to reach ideal comfort. I have had good luck with...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

Very much so, I’ve had more Beyers than any brand. Second most I’ve had from a brand would be Sennheiser.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

Makes sense, seems you tried the wrong Beyers for your tastes, if you can audition a DT 1990 preferably try out both the analytical and balanced pads you may find something that is enjoyable. That headphone was so fun to listen to, not only did it have good detail, is quick and resolving; it’s...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I had a Valhalla 2 when it was quite new to the market and while I didn’t like it on many headphones I had in the past it did actually pair really well with one headphone I had then, the DT 1990 Pro and I had suspicions based on the sonic characteristics of the Valhalla 2 it will pair well with...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I have tried it for a few days actually. Didn’t quite work out for me either. So far the only thing that has helped is putting the headphone on tubes. Honestly I think putting them on an OTL amp will fix them for me and may prevent me from selling them.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I’m not sure if I’ll hold onto my 660S2 sadly and may end up selling them off, I enjoy its sound quite a bit but fatigue has sadly been a real issue with me and them. Not familiar with the other 3 headphones, but am familiar with the Focal sound. I am eyeing that new focal open-back as well. It...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

Yeah, and honestly way too few closed-backs have velours. There are many Beyers that have them, the Shure SRH-1540 has those wonderful alcantara pads. The 1540 pads and the DT 700 Pro X pads (donut pillow-like velour pads) are my favorite closed-back pads I’ve ever came across. There are a few...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

I prefer open-backs myself. I am curious as well as I haven’t really had good experiences with closed-back Sennheisers. For me I do want to see how they compared to the DT 700 Pro X which a relatively neutrally tuned closed-back. The new DT 770 Pro X on the other hand is more v-shaped. With...

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

That’s how I feel too, the Grell is definitely a more interesting product to me. I generally prefer Beyers for closed-backs anyways (sonically and also I prefer velour on closed-backs) so the closed-back Senn is definitely lower priority to me.

    AXEL GRELL HEADPHONE

Keeping an eye on the HD 620S but I just bought a closed-back recently the DT 770 Pro X (100th anniversary Beyer). I think I’ll likely order the Axel Grell headphones before the new closed Senns.

Schiit Magni+ and Magni Heretic :: Impressions Thread

How do you find the Unity compares to the Heretic? Haven't had any issues on the Heretic so far thankfully, but do worry it may have issues eventually. I did have a Heresy in the past have some problems.

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

That is very true about the HD 660S2, I'm quite surprised how prominent it is despite it's measurements. It's one of those headphones I find have more bass than the measurements indicates. I have others that have less bass than measurements indicate, and some are about where I expect based on...

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

I'm personally glad we have companies like Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, etc. that continue making good quality headphones without the exorbitant prices. Prices have gotten crazy over the past 12 years I've been on this website. Another factor people seem to be overlooking is the bar for sound...

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

That low-mid dip is quite common in closed-backs. Comparing the HD 620S to my DT 770 Pro X will be interesting. Comparing the HD 620S to the DT 700 Pro X will be another interesting comparison.

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

I got the HD 6xx collection myself, the HD 600, HD 650, HD 660S, and HD 660S2, so definitely an HD 6xx fan as well. Interestingly over the months I gravitated towards the HD 650 being my favorite which was my least favorite of the 4 at first. But which is my favorite can definitely change as I...

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

Okay, never found the HD 560S too clampy either, but a bit less clamp will definitely make them more comfortable. Looking forward to trying the HD 620S out sometime.

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

Thank you for answering, seems like it's going to be one of those I have to try out to see if I find them too sweaty or not for me. It being forgiving of oils and moisture may help. Luckily with the HD 5xx style frame the comfort shouldn't be a problem. How's the clamp compared to the HD 560S?

    Unveiled: Meet the HD 620S

How breathable are the pads on the headphone? I'm sensitive to getting sweaty with closed-backs and pleather/leather pads are very hit or miss for me.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X Anniversary model

With the right system and with good pad wear, the DT 990 treble is fine, but on the wrong system the DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm was not pleasant, why I said it could be like daggers. Some low output impedance amps worked fine on the DT 990, I found it heavily came down to treble quality of the amp and...

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X Anniversary model

The bass is indeed really nice on the DT 770 Pro X. It's definitely spicy in the treble, but how it presents and handle treble doesn't bother me personally so I leave it as is. It's one of the first trebly headphones I can handle without issue. The DT 1990 was sharper to my ears than the DT 770...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

To be honest I was always critical of the headphone and actually didn't like it much at first, but over time I realize it does seem to be the best of the bunch and growing to love the headphone. I haven't been too impressed with Senns newer products so far, they've had too many drawbacks for me...
