I had AKG K70 headphones bough in 1996. They were quit nice but once I got Sony MDR-V6 the K70 went for the shelf.

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Fun of it is probably, even if that, the only reason to set the gain as e07k begins to sound crispy like a cheap DAP on max. Unfortunately I have to set up +6dB gain for my Q701 sometimes and hence would love to know the physics behind it.

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Darn! Anyone with an access to an oscilloscope or a good multimeter out there to help check the readings? Or let's just Google the specs and puff up how awesome they are. :-/ In all seriousness, is DYI spirit and tools still out there? I'm totally getting an oscilloscope as soon as I get a...

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Maybe someone already posted this, but I would like to report that the 07k works with Microsoft Surface smoothly by just plugging into the standard USB port.   On the question side: Does "gain +6dB" increases output power (mW) and what would it be at 67ohms?

    Q701 impressions thread

How do they sound with e07k only without e12? I got e07k and it's a huge improvement over my HP business series laptop audio, but hardly much over my Nokia Lumia 520 analog sound amplification .

Zune HD vs Zune 80/120 and iPod Touch 4th gen vs iPod Classic (Audio Quality)

Clip+ was an interesting little crispy device, until I lost it.. :( ..and now that the dock connector on my Zune finally caved in (do you know a cheap fix?) I am pounding my portable music with Nokia N9 and Nokia Lumia 520 with 64GB microSD plugged in ;) both sound very descent.

    Q701 impressions thread

Just had an extensive 3 hour listening session with my brand new Q701 and have two short questions: 1. Why do the headphones smell a bit mechanically when I took them off? 2. What's your best portable amp or DAC+amp under or about $100 to work specifically with Q701?

Zune HD vs Zune 80/120 and iPod Touch 4th gen vs iPod Classic (Audio Quality)

Here is my observation on Zune 120 vs iPod Classic vs iPod Touch 8Gb (2G):   - Classic is just plainly bad. I sold it, discounting it and losing $200. It sounded very muffed and too much lows. There was no high and no mids either. Vocals sounded like singers had towels over their mouths.  ...
