I think you should try to contact them and send a photo to see if they the drivers are the "e" ones. Although I'm only guessing that it's an old stock model.

The original is THE old cup version. I bought it because it's the only Grado that retains the old school (pre-2009) cups and I wanna customize it later on.

I got my MS1's a couple hours ago and they sound great to my ears and don't mind the pocket knife (I have an interest in cutlery besides headphones lol).    

^^ It's discontinued like he said and at $150, it's literally a bargain since it's a much more affordable than hd25 ii. Plus, the sound is definitely upfront with the bass sounding tight and has some nice mid or "clarity" as I like to describe on the amperiors.

I suppose the AKG 701/702 lines are better suited to my tastes then?

  I concur, both the on-ear and over-ear momentums doesn't sound as crisp as the amperiors for their price-tag; I'm not sure about the DT1350's since I've yet to listen to it.

I bought the Amperiors for $168.44 in Canadian dollars at BestBuy a few days ago when they're on sale. I gotta admit, they're worth the money in a long-run and it actually sounds better than the HD-25's imo.

I've check a bunch of reviews of the TMA-1 saying that the headband is too loose, and might wear off and exposing the wire but those are probably the older reviews though.
