Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
Right, so I have a question about these. I love my K701s (8 humps) and I drive them with the original Lyr and Bifrost. I am a sucker for crazy detail and good soundstage. I absolutely love the HD800, but they are out of my price-range ATM. But I have not tried these. How far are they from...- mikiphile

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
So, I should be fine running the X1 out of the Lyr? No danger of blowing it up before 12 o'clock?- mikiphile

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
All of the above, its an awesome deal and I really wanna try them. I know that they are quite different in sound sig. What really motivated me was the supposedly awesome soundstage. "Cos I'm all 'bout that... soundstage" I just worry that the Lyr will be a bit too noisy.- mikiphile

[New] Philips Fidelio X1
Looks like I might have found a spectacular deal for these, it was totally by accident too. I own a Schiit Lyr amp, which I use to drive my K701. Do you think it will be appropriate, or might it be a problem on account of the low impedance of the headphones? Thanks!- mikiphile

Foobar2000 with WASAPI on Windows 10
Hey there guys. I'm starting this thread because I want to get some more info on this matter. My Windows 10 upgrade is waiting for me, and I am really concerned about whether foobar2000 (with the wasapi plugin) will be compatible with the upgrade. I am also concerned about the possibility of...- mikiphile

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
Cool, thanks! I just wanted to get the general feedback. In terms of sound, I to put emphasis on resolution and soundstage, while I like a very neutral sound in general. I remember reading some comparisons in this thread about how the Yggy didn't have the 3D soundstage of a similarly priced...- mikiphile

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
@Wino YES, that was my question. The reason I asked is because I haven't had the opportunity to personally audition the Yggy myself, and even if I had, I probably would't have been able to compare it well to the ultra (overpriced) high end stuff because I have heard only a couple of high end...- mikiphile

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
So based on most of the impressions in this thread, one DEFINITELY WOULDN'T make a mistake getting this DAC as a main source for a serious speaker setup? Even better: if one was to get a good pair of speakers and amplification, it would make no sense paying 10k+ for a "high end" DAC from a well...- mikiphile

Schiit Ragnarok Amplifier

Speakers In Use With Schiit Ragnarok
This is something I am extremely interested in. Would the Raggy be close to the transparency and overall SQ of a higher end preamp? I hope to maybe get the Mark Levinson No 535H in the very near future for a pair of JBL Synthesis S4700. I think this gear is somewhat touching high end...- mikiphile

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!
Caetano Veloso in general sounds WOOOOOOOW on my rig, but this song hit a very interesting spot today. It was absolutely overwhelming! I definitely have heard this song in the past and must have loved it. Now, I am discovering this amazing musician and when I heard this song I really couldn't... -
K701 thread
If you can afford it, the Lyr is one of the best amps for the K70X. Mine sound absolutely amazing with the Lyr. In case you decide to buy it, also make sure to get some good tubes. -This is a great thread about tube-headphone synergy with the Lyr:- mikiphile

K701 thread
Wait... WHAT?? Made in PRC? This is news. Mine are not that old but clearly say "Made in Austria". Well, I bought them in 2012, and they probably sat in inventory for a year at least.. so they might be slightly older. My K242 HD were also made in Austria, and later found out that almost...- mikiphile

Hello good people of Head-fi, whats up? Since the Lyr threads seem to be quite inactive these days, I figured im gonna post here. Schiit Bifrost Uber Analog Upgrade
I have a question regarding the compatibility of Bifrost with 24/176. I am trying to play Explorations of Space and Time from foobar2000, which is encoded at this quality, through USB. For some reason, it keeps saying: "Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported stream format: 176400 Hz / 24-bit...- mikiphile

I passed CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1!
For some reason, I decided to search the forums for "CFA" today, and came up with this thread. I must say i was surprised I got at least this result. I am actually taking level 1 this December, and was curious to see if anyone else on head-fi is or has gone through the same hell as me. Cheerz- mikiphile

NEW! AKG K812
WAWAWIWA!!! I just found out about the K-812s and was SHOCKED! It was enough to bring me back from my 6 month of head-fi slumber. People that know me here know how much i like AKG. Unfortunately, 36ohms and 110 db SPL/V sounds like my Lyr wont really like these headphones. As I cant be...- mikiphile

I am also looking to solve my issue with this, which is driving a pair of bookshelves. Something like the B&W 685. I was initially thinking of getting a Rotel power amp, to pair with the Lyr as pre-amp, but eventually realized its too much of gear to have, as I am a student on the move. ...- mikiphile

Foobar 2000 Screenshot Thread
Hello guys, I am wandering what skin to get. For me it is VITAL that it does not interfere with the performance of foobar2000/wasapi and that it will not cause any dropouts or anything which would affect the sound quality, which used to happen on my old computer ALL the time. I actually...- mikiphile
