Well, I'm going back actually for electrical engineering, so when everything is done I'll be a a quadruple major ... Physics, mathematics, theoretical physics and applied math, and now adding EE...l either I can't make up my mind what I want to do or I'm insane... Probably both .... All the...

I am a math and physics graduate and it seems to me that you are taking a geometry exam. I hope you do well. With geometry , it always helps to draw a picture and derive equations.... In fact geometry is derived off of pictures. If you are not taking geometry, you'll be fine anyway... At least...

How forgiving are the HiFiMAN HE-400s?

I bought the HE-400 and returned them but I think you should be fine, 256 kbps is not ideal, but as said byTMRaven, the 400 is very forgiving. Also, it can be driven reasonably well off the iPod. But it's not really meant to be a portable headphone because it's open (sound can leak in and out)...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Unless the club is very very quiet, I wouldn't recommend the hd600 because they are open. That is, outside sounds can leak in and the music you are hearing in the hd 600 can leak out. But if you are going to use the hd600 to mix at home and the 25 to mix and monitor at the club, it can work.

    RS2i G-Cush Question

I have the grado bowl pads and I shampoo'ed them to soften them up... much more comfortable. I have yet tested if the shampoo process effected the sound quality though

Just finished reading sayonara zetsubou sensei manga... on the surface, it was a comedy... but the series actually had a plot. Re-reading several chapters and seeing some old episodes made me realize how well crafted the series actually is.  I really hope that Shaft makes an OVA or something...

    It's the same

I agree with the ^^ I auditioned both the HD 600 and the HD 650 and choose the HD 600. The HD 650 is a bit fore bassy than the HD 600 and a great for mixing and as a general headphone. I have yet found a genera that I disliked with my HD 600. As for the Amp, the Schiit Asgard a good choice ( I...

LCD2 vs Shure 1840 vs HD800 vs Hifiman (not sure with model)

You have the set up that I am planning to get... I'm so jealous. But don't worry about the tubes. As long as you don't leave the amp on 24/7, the tubes would last a long long time. People love tubes because changing them changes the sound that you get out of them.

    Best of sound

I agree with TMRaven, espacally on a good setup. For example, when I got my HD-600 and listened to coldplay's viva la vida in a lossless flac file, it sounded like a piece of ****. It was muffled, boomy and flat. It's sad, it was one of my favorite songs... but recordings do matter. I personally...

Quote: Headphonia said that that the Lyr isn't that great with IEM since there is a substantial amount of noise unless the IEM is inefficient. I don't own the Bifrost or Lyr yet, but I am pretty much in the same boat with buying the pair now for my HD600 and the LCD-2 in the future.

I truly believe these are one of the best Classical Music headphones I've ever heard

Funny, I was talking to my cousin about this. He is a diehard stereo audiophile who loves classical music and has a gramophone guide for classical recordings. The guide ranks and recommends recordings for a given composer and gives listening notes for each record they review. But it does help to...

LCD2 vs Shure 1840 vs HD800 vs Hifiman (not sure with model)

The only think about the HD800 is that they sound a bit clinical and if not properly amp'ed, may have a lot of treble. But the HD 800 has one of the best sound stages out there. I sampled the HD800  for around 30 min on orchestral music and the soundstage is godly... but for my music tastes, it...

LCD2 vs Shure 1840 vs HD800 vs Hifiman (not sure with model)

Agreed. But if you want a "cheap amp" that can drive the LCD 2 reasonably well , the schiit Asgard Is a good choice ($249 new) . But I do agree with jerg's advice, you can always upgrade the source later.

LCD2 vs Shure 1840 vs HD800 vs Hifiman (not sure with model)

What music do you listen to and what amp are you going to use ? The LCD-2 and the HiFiMan need a serious amount of current to drive them well... not sure about the Shure (no pun intended). But from the onset, it looks like the LCD-2 is the way to go for you.
