Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
hi danneq, Quote: I wonder if formatting is the only resort to get rid of that ghost folder. Not sure, but have you tried getting the latest version of the KMA software. (Check on the kenwood japan site; looks like...- jsr

Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
Quote: +1 not sure what went in their mind when they designed that POS ('S' like 'Software', of course... ) Too bad that there's no rockbox port on that player, it would have been a terrific combo.- jsr

Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
Quote: I have found some further information about batteries. I have looked at some Japanese sites where they talk about replacing batteries on Kenwood HDD players. Apparently the replacement battery for Cowon M3/X5 might work well. The only thing is that you need to do a bit of soldering...- jsr

Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
hi danneq, Quote: @jsr - Are you sure that the HD10GB7 uses the same battery as the larger Kenwood HDD players? yes, I'm pretty sure they use the same. I was also initially surprised, but when I looked at the battery (I opened my HD10GB7), they are the same model (wb09-1315)- jsr

Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
thanx for the link and for the picture. that battery seems to be a good alternative to the original kenwood one. I'll have to check if I can source something similar here in the US. as you said, the sansa battery might be a bit too wide. as most other players, everything tightly fits inside...- jsr

H320 fell down the toilet (2)
I knew that the idea of the WD40 seems weird, but in the current case - player that was immersed in water - it might do the trick in removing all the humidity. As long as you have traces of water/humidity, I don't know if the electronic cleaners will do much.- jsr

Kenwood HD20GA7 Review
congrats on your "new" kenwood player. I have the same, and I really like the sound, but one thing that really bothers me on that player is the battery's lifetime: it totally sucks, it won't hold charge for long. In comparison, my iriver player that is a few years older is still almost flawless...- jsr

Quote: At the moment battery will be half empty (maybe more) but sounds already great, no background noise, unless you start hearing the clicks of the volume control, which will blow your head of if the music starts... hmm, I don't hear any clicks at all while using the volume control...- jsr

Emmeline "The Shadow"
Quote: How is the digital volume control. Is it user friendly? yes, no problem at all. I initially had some concern that it might be tricky with my relatively big fingers, but the tiny "lever" (sorry, I don't know how to call that...) protrudes right enough to move the volume up and...- jsr

very first impression - just noting what strikes me compared to the other RSA amps I have: - the width of the sound stage is remarkable - instruments separation is also something I feel superior to my other amps (see my signature) - not sure how to describe that one, but there's some kind of...- jsr

just got mine too. Thank you, Ray. (but as usual, Fedex sucks, they carelessely left the pkg laying on the floor next to the door... oh well) Haven't had time to listen to it yet, but first visual impression: wow, that thing IS small! Smaller than I thought it would be based on the pictures on...- jsr

Best sounding (non-EQued/non-modded) player you've heard in your puny little life.
in order of preference: 1. kenwood hd20ga7 2. hd10gb7 note: only thing that sucks with these kenwood players is the battery that doesn't hold charge so well and are not replaceable (unless someone knows of some hack?) 3. iriver h120 4. recently acquired sansa clip - although still trying...- jsr

DEAL ALERT - Sansa Clip 8GB $49
Quote: $69.99 at my local Walmart interestingly enough. I did get some spinach though went to my local Walmart, the displayed pricetag was $69.99, but then asked them to do a price check (I mentioned to them I saw ppl on here getting $49...). Sure enough the guy came back and told me...- jsr

regretting E4G purchase
hi zerodeefex, the tip of the day for you and for whoever bought their e4g from Fry's less than a month ago: a few weeks back, I bought the e4g at Fry's for $153 - which I thought was a good deal, then I read that you got yours for $120... So, I went back there and asked them to check...- jsr

cn11, maybe you can give a shot at the following tip for Itunes: "... just go into edit->preferences->advanced->click the "importing" tab->import using mp3 encoder, choose your bitrate, then apply the changes then just select all the .m4a files in your library click advanced->convert...- jsr

Kenwood HD10GB7
Assorted, I don't think the steps you provide applies to the HD10GB7. With that device you either drag and drop the files with the player seen as a USB storage device, or you can use Windows Media Player.- jsr

Kenwood HD10GB7
Quote: Some showed up, some didn't. yep, it will only show the files that are in a format that it plays... (so, .ogg, .flac, etc... won't show up). I guess your best option is to use some utility to convert your mp4 files to mp3. As usual Google is your best friend. (for example...- jsr
