I’m thinking about getting the DT831. I need closed phones for home use (not portable) and the reviews at both Headphone and the Meier site say this is probably the best of the Beyer lineup. I know most everyone here would say to get either the DT770 or the 250-80/250-250 instead of the 831...

Well, I just got these a couple days ago and my first reaction was negative (very). I didn’t like the feel or the sound. I WAS getting a seal and even though everything seemed ok it was miserable; NO bass crappy sound etc. I then tried the ER4P to S adapter, cleaned my ears using Earwax removal...

I just got my Creek and of course the first thing I do is open it up and to my suprise 'Lo and behold' there are no Op amps! -Just heat sinked power transistors. Hence the strange S/N ratios? What do you make out of it?
