Grado e Series
I actually like their sound just the way they are. I tried the comfies once. I felt some detail was lost and they made my ears hot. Im just curious if they changed the 325e sound at all.- crepuscular457

Grado e Series
I have the 325is (l cush pads) paired with a soha II and while they are bright cans i dont think they are too bright (probablu due to the amp). I am curious tho if anyone has compared the 325Is to the 325e.- crepuscular457

Fiio D3
Got a new D03k for christmas to replace my original D3. I think the sound may be slightly better (not sure tho), but it does not have the problem the original one did. The older one would make a crackling sound when my optical was set to 192KHz, and my new one does not. I'm still thinking of...- crepuscular457

audio technica vs ultrasone vs beats
I think you should give the ultrasone hfi-580's a look. They are decent all rounder and are exceptional at electronic music. They dont leak much sound and can block out almost any noise. Some people find them uncomfortable, but usually for extended periods. I can wear mine all day with no issue...- crepuscular457

Please recommend a headphone for listening to solo (classical) piano
I'll throw in another recommendation for the 325is. I listen to my ultrasones a lot more but that's because they're my out-and-about cans. When i actually have a chance to sit down and listen to my grado's its a treat. I do not listen to too much solo piano music, but the pieces i have heard...- crepuscular457

Fiio D3
The D3 only has optical in and digital coax in. If you dont have those outputs on your laptop you might want to consider something else that plugs into usb and has rca outs.. Otherwise you'd have a usb device that has optical or coax that feeds into the D3, which feeds into the amp.- crepuscular457

Anyone heard Ophelie Gaillard's interpretation? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmOtz5bB-AA Absolutely LOVE the sound, even through youtube HD. It just sounds so full. One of these days I'm gonna get around to buying this cd.- crepuscular457

I'm pretty sure i want to try and switch out the opamp. Seems like cutting the leads off the old one is the way to go. Anyone know the easiest way to do this? exacto knife?- crepuscular457

Closed Headphones for Competitive Gaming
I use the Ultrasone hfi-580 for gaming. The v-shape is fine for gaming, as most of the focus is on explosions and little accent noises in the upper frequencies. they have great positioning. you can tell where any noise comes from 360 degrees. I had been using grado's for gaming because they were...- crepuscular457

A Concise View of Why The ATH-M50 is No Longer King
Quote: I've heard the senn hd280's, and shure 750dj's. I havent heard any senns other than the 280's but if they're all that boring then i'll pass. They lack excitement. Detail was ok, but i had no interest in listening to anything. I picked my sr-80's over those any day. The 750dj's, on...- crepuscular457

A Concise View of Why The ATH-M50 is No Longer King
Quote: I own the HFI-580 and your statement brings me to two one of two conclusions: 1) i have no idea what sounds good or 2) it really is true that everyone hears something different. i picked mine up used for $100 and i think i got a phenomenal value. I would have...- crepuscular457

Headphones for metal/rock/hardcore and gaming <$200AUD
Ultrasone HFI-580. Good with lots of stuff. Definitely a great gaming and movie performer. They sound pretty good with most music but electronic is where they shine. I dont have a comfort issue with them, but some people think they clamp. And i find them fairly easy to drive.- crepuscular457
