Stereo amp with good headphone jack
Not too long ago I bought a Sony TA-F630ESD, I got it quite cheap from ebay (had problems in right channel but it was only a dirty relay). Before that I was using the Shiit Asgard 2. All I can say is that the Sony demolishes the Asgard when used with HD600, especially in lower frequencies which...- repman244

Quote: I would suggest LME49990 or THS4032. Since you're using the built in amp, you don't need to change the buffer.- repman244

Little brother absolutely wants beats for Christmas. Refuses Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, PSB, Focal and V-Moda
Quote: This. It was the same for me, I didn't always get what I wanted (sometimes I didn't get anything!)...was I sad? Yes. Did it kill me? No. Looking at it now, I'm actually thankful I didn't always get what I wanted. 11 years old or not, you can't always give him anything...- repman244

Why Beats Audio is very misleading.
Quote: I think I already saw a similar thing discussed here but one more can't hurt ;) Quote: Best is the one that doesn't need any software gimmick to make it sound good, all you need is a quality DAC and an amp ;)- repman244

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Just finished soldering 2xTHS4032 to DIP-8 for my ST.....all I can say is: amazing. Compared to 2xLME49860NA: A bit better detail, much better bass (it's still punchy and detailed), I would say the soundstage is pretty much the same (to me)...one thing I noticed straight away is that...- repman244

Quote: Quote: I see, thanks to both of you, I guess I'll just grab the ID's then. Sylverant are you happy with them or do they lack in certain areas? I'm coming from 2xLME48960NA which do lack a bit of bass however they sound really nice to me. But if the THS4032 are...- repman244

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Quote: Like I said eBay isn't an option really. I only need the opamps for the I/V (I only use the HP amp, so the buffer isn't used). I'm leaning towards 2xTHS4032 and making my own adapters (which isn't an option with the LME49990), soldering isn't a problem since I soldered tons...- repman244

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread
Quote: Well the AD797 and the LME49990 are both single channel so I would need 4 of them (and the adapters) to use in the I/V (I know there are some on eBay, but I'm in Europe and the shipping cost kills, I tried searching for those adapters but couldn't find locally). I guess my only...- repman244

Can anyone here comment on 2xLME49720HA in I/V? I'm now using 2x49860NA (using headphone out so buffer is irrelevant), would the HA's be an improvement or just a side grade?- repman244

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Quote: Do you use stock op-amps? I upgraded to 2xLME49720NA and it's a lot better than stock ones, a lot more detail and instrument separation. The bass is a lot better in terms of quality but you do loose some of it (but I prefer quality over quantity). Not saying it makes the...- repman244

24/96 coming to iTunes? The end of darkness?
Quote: Agree, and let's not forget that slapping a 24/96 label on doesn't make it so. If the source is 16/44.1 you gain nothing (only loose if you pay more).- repman244

What's my bottleneck? How good is my audio source? Will it do good headphones justice?
The Asus Xonar DGX has a good DAC and I think you would be good with HD598 (which at 50-ohm are quite easy to drive).- repman244

Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread
Hd600's arrived, all I can is that they completely obliterate my previous HD595. Everything is better, more detailed. Running them from a Xonar Essence for now until I can save up for a proper amp - but that will take some time. Final verdict: 300€ very well spent- repman244

I could be wrong here, but if you are using the headphone amp you don't need to change the buffer, only the I/V. Quote:- repman244

I doubt it's the PSU, I have a HX850 that runs an overclocked Phenom II 1090T, 4x2GB of RAM, overclocked HD5870, 3 SATA drives and 2 SAS drives with a SAS controller, 6 case fans. And your card doesn't pull 34A all the time so in idle you don't even come close to put a strain on the PSU. Hell...- repman244
