Possible to not notice hifi?
Well I was warming up to these headphones as a gaming set and thinking of what I could do for my music in general when I started listening to some old, high quality files I had (uncompressed WAV files... actually...) and they were still just "good". I then on a random whim dug into my old...- Tinari

Possible to not notice hifi?
Unfortunately, as I said before, a good portion of my music is at the mercy of those who upload the MP3s for me to download. If I pay 99 cents to download an MP3 and its' 256kbps and nothing more, I can't re-encode it productively. I don't even know on some if I have the original sources...- Tinari

Possible to not notice hifi?
I'll confess, I used the term 'punch' a bit improperly as I just realized in the audio market, that typically means bass thumps I think (maybe?) so that was wrong. They're not bad quality by any means. I am gonna try a large variety of music. Unfortunately, I doubt the music I listen to...- Tinari

Possible to not notice hifi?
I actually played a game or two with these and I have to say that really changed my tune drastically. While my music may not be as punchy I guess as I wanted (the song in particular was http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00969/ which is a 160kbps MP3 file, a few 256kbps files in my audio...- Tinari

Confessions of a failing audiophile
I just made another post a bit ago about this same thing. Regardless of what headphones I use, I can hear some quality difference and some basic things, but overall I just get no real impact in a way i had hoped I would get. It is just "Well, yes. These do indeed sound better... good." in the...- Tinari

Possible to not notice hifi?
Unfortunately since I use a laptop, I doubt I'll be upgrading the sound card anytime soon. But... er... I guess I am too newbish but I have no idea what use converting things to analog would be, unless you mean a DAC to go to an amp to use. I guess I'll see what else I can do, but I pretty...- Tinari

Possible to not notice hifi?
Hello and all that jazz! I recently, as in tonight, got my pair of ATH-AD700 headphones in. I'm just not 'getting' it I guess. A few years back I picked up a $12 pair of cheapy sony in-ear buds to listen to stuff at work on my PSP and at home on my computer. Later, I got myself a...- Tinari

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
HELLO! I made a post some time ago about buying some closed headphones for listening to music, games and pretty much wearing all day, even when nothing is playing. I had a pair of BOSE AE1 headphones at the time and I thought they were pretty darn good. This was after trying a variety of Best...- Tinari

Newbie headphone question, suggestions desired.
Quote: No sir. I am thinking I am just picking up the Shure SRH440. The actual selection IN store is horrible, so I'll be ordering online regardless. Cheers!- Tinari

Newbie headphone question, suggestions desired.
The long and short of it, I spent a lot of time looking over a variety of things from Best Buy in the 100-160 range and had my mind pretty much set on the ATH-AD700. They're completely sold out of stock and that took the wind completely out of my sails to the point I am not sure what I...- Tinari

Newbie headphone question, suggestions desired.
Quote: On the surface, the ATH-AD700 look more capable. Higher price, higher frequency range and sensitivity. But that begs a question. Should an audio newbie like myself be concerned with like frequency response and sensitivity? I'll be heading to best buy in the next 20-30...- Tinari

Quote: Certainly! I mostly listen to... a HUGE variety. A few samples of my favorite songs (if you don't mind youtube) which ALSO should help show my... er... eclectic tastes. Heroes of Might and Magic, Barbarian Opera theme (track 8 if you have the CD)...- Tinari

Newbie headphone question, suggestions desired.
Hello. New to Head-fi. I've come here once or twice randomly before and tended to use this site for any information I could scrounge up about headphones. I feel kinda like an idjit just registering now so I could ask something. The gist of this is that I have $150 in store credit at...- Tinari
