    Pete Millett's Menace

One chassis, a lot of effort went into signal vs. power wire routing to avoid induced noise. I've owned too many to list, mostly DIY that I built. But I stopped building things years ago and haven't kept up because what I have is good enough for me.

    Pete Millett's Menace

I still have it. It did leave my possession for a while (sold to a friend who sold it back) and I'm glad that I reacquired it. How it compares to modern stuff? No idea really, best I can say is that I've owned a fair number of headphone amplifiers and both of the Menaces were competitive with...

    Pete Millett's Menace

Sure, I think pictures are already buried somewhere in this thread but this is mostly what it looks like. Since then I replaced the open-frame choke with a Hammond unit to match the output transformers. But on the inside, it still looks the same.

    Pete Millett's Menace

Unsurprisingly, yes, I'm still using one. It's not the original but the transformer design that @nikongod and I collaborated on.

Calling All Grado Owners! 3D Printed Cup Project In Progress. Need Cup Dimensions/3D Models.

I should be able to do that.  Just PM me your email address and I'll hunt it down and send it to you.  I think it has the HP-1 cups in the same file as I did the modeling at the same time.  100% accuracy not guaranteed. :)

I have the RS-1 cups modeled in Autocad 3D if you can find a way to use that.

    Post pics of your builds....

Very nice.  I've always wanted to build one of those (being both an engineer and a fan of Pete's work) but have yet to find a use for it if I did.

    Tools for DIY Wishlist...

That's all well and good if you're using the same IEC each time.  I tend to use the large, integrated switch and fuse IECs which do not lend themselves very well to a specific tool like that.  And I'd still rather drill and file and avoid the panel deformation that results from using a punch...

    Tools for DIY Wishlist...

A few points:   1. A tabletop drill press is all that should be required.  Floor standing models just offer more depth for drilling and we're basically never working on things that large. 2. Nibblers are nearly worthless.  IEC's, done well, simply require patience and planning.  I have...

RAFFLE CLOSED A little over 10 years ago I got involved with a non-profit organization called Northeast Passage (www.nepassage.org) through a college friend of mine who had gone to work for them.  NEP is a non-profit that works with people with various types of physical disabilities.  They work...
