Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I have old pads from my hd580 and they're softer and compress more on your head, it sounds warmer, bassier and darker. I bought some new hd650 pads and they are indeed different (much stiffer, sounds brighter overall). They need some break in time to sound good.- rhiga

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I was curious about the hd650 but all this talk about the harsh upper mids made me reconsider. I have old hd580 and they're a bit too forward around 2-5khz, which makes some female vocals sound shrill and eletric guitars are kinda bright. That's why i prefer my ad2000 and dt150 over the hd580.- rhiga

I also have a hd580 (3rd gen) too. Do u think the hd650 is a step up in sound quality? I'm using hifimediy u2 async (dac) + smsl sapiii (amp) with my hd580, I'm not sure if it's good enough.- rhiga

Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!
Yep, it tames the bass hump as well. The stock pads is more dry sounding, distant, bigger soundstage and somewhat more dynamic with bigger bass. Velour pads sounds more warm and intimate, less bass hump and treble, sounds more like a Sennheiser headphone. I haven't decide yet which...- rhiga

Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!
There's a 5khz peak followed by a dip until you get to another peak at around 8-10khz, thats why the treble sounds papery. The treble doesn't sound thin if you use DT100 velour pads, it kills the treble peaks and sounds warmer. The HM5 velour pads sounds very bright and thin though, i don't...- rhiga

Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!
I'm using the dt100 velour pads without the foam, that thick foam kill the highs a bit too much.- rhiga

Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!
Finally got my dt150! The headband has this weird shape, it was hard to get a good fit out of it, definitely need some time in your head to settle in. The cable on the right side is also a bit strange. The sound is pretty good overall, very impressive for a closed headphone. Bass is bit...- rhiga

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Interesting, i have the k240mkll and was thinking about the hd650 but not sure if it's worth the cost. Do you use the k240 with the pleather or velour pads? Because u get more bass and the mids sound a bit closer (more intimate, depth) with the velours, it also sound less airy overall. Maybe...- rhiga

Sennheiser HD518 HD558 HD598 HD559 HD589 HD579 HD599 Support Thread
The cheap cable i got from ebay definitely changed the sound of my hd518 for the better, it sounds a bit more clear and airy now, the bass is slight better too. I got the same cable for my akg and shure headphones but i don't think i noticed any difference, if there's a difference it's very...- rhiga

Sennheiser HD518 HD558 HD598 HD559 HD589 HD579 HD599 Support Thread
I found out the hd518's sound change quite a bit depending on headphone positioning in your head and ears. I thought it was burn in at first, but i was like "there's no way a simple burn in could affect the sound that much" so i tried fiddling with the headphone for a bit and finally found the...- rhiga
