The Reference 6J5 Thread (L63, 6C5, 12J5, 6P5, etc.)
I'll give that a try. This is probably amp dependent, but does anyone know if a 76 should "turn on" that quick and be so bright? I've never seen that from any tube. Thanks all!- MJS242

I wasn't sure where I purchased the adapter since it's been some years, but I double checked and it was from xulingmrs via ebay. I tested four tubes and they all performed the same way.- MJS242

It looks like a 76 as far as I can tell. Ordered from eBay, came in a Tung-Sol 76 box, has a 76 on the base. Correct number of pins for a 76.- MJS242

The Reference 6J5 Thread (L63, 6C5, 12J5, 6P5, etc.)
Anyone have experience with 6C5 to 76 adapters? I've had a set of adapters for a long time now but I've never tried them until today. When I did, the 76 tubes lit up very quickly (and very brightly) and there was loud buzzing in both channels. I didn't continue to run the amp because that...- MJS242

It's been a few years since I used this amp let alone did any tube rolling, have to get back with you. That link is a nice resource by the way, thanks!- MJS242

I thought the name Deyan looked familiar. Pretty sure I bought some 6SN7 to 6C5 adapters from him in 2018.- MJS242

Hello everyone, I've been out of this hobby for a awhile but lately have been circling back and found this thread. I have a custom La Figaro 339 that uses 6AS7 and L63/6C5/6J5. In addition to the L63/6C5/6J5 I have an adapter for EF86 (EF806S, E80F) which was created by the amp maker...- MJS242

Yeah, it's kind of this unhealthy, dopaminergic hobby where it's always more more and never enough. Having said that, I love building kits 🤣 I've done the BH crack and the transcendent sound masterpiece. Always wanted to do an elekit but free time isn't something I have a lot of these days...- MJS242

I have a completed picture somewhere, but this is all I can find right now. I also have a lot of specifications for different parts and acceptable ranges. I haven't been that active on here in years. I have a custom 339 (6J5), a 339i (6J4P) and a Zana Deux. That's all been keeping me happy...- MJS242

My custom amp has mundorf MKPs. Mine were too big and an extended cover had to be created. If I remember, you can use a range of uF and people who built custom amps did this in different ways.- MJS242

A long time ago I bought some tubes and the packaging included this foam holder. I was never sure what it was called, but I always liked putting tubes on it. Recently I discovered it's a test tube /vial holder and you can buy them on ebay (maybe you guys know about this). This one you...- MJS242

I still own a custom LF339 (6C5/L63 version) and I recently ordered the 339i from mass drop. At this point, I've owned all iterations of the amp and have tons of adapters. EF80 to 6SJ7 EF86 to 6SJ7 EF86 to 6C5 6SN7 to 6C5 76 to 6C5 Also a lot of tubes: Even some especially rare...- MJS242

I don't think converting 6SJ7 to 6J5 is terribly difficult. Maybe @xmdkq or @telecaster can enlighten us with a diagram of sorts?- MJS242

Just a reminder to those with the 6C5/6J5/L63 version as a lot of information gets buried in this thread, but with an adapter you can run 6SN7's since a 6SN7 is two 6C5/6J5's- MJS242
