V Moda M100s worth the upgrade from Audio Technica ATH-M50s?

Evening,   I've owned both the M-50 and currently the M-100. (Just for reference so I'm not talking out of my ass, I also own fischer audio FA-002w, ATH-A700, Beyerdynamic 880 Prem. 250 ohm,) Comfort: M100's have significantly less clamping force, They fit snug, but it doesn't destroy your...

    V Moda100

Owner of the M-100 here.   They are no neutral by any stretch, but they're wonderful at being a fun headphone. There's quite a bass kick and they only get better as you amp. Off an iPod/Phone they're going to be reserved sounding like you know they can produce more dynamics, but just doesn't...

    Upgrade from Fischer FA-002w

Morning,   Looking for some feedback on what steps to make from my current setup. Probably able to go up to around 500-600$. Source is my computer feeding into my Schiit Magni / Modi and my primary headphone is the Fischer Audio FA-002w master series. Has the 5-step beech wood in case...

Headphones you regretted buying the most

Id have to give it to the ath m50. They were uncomfortable with a tight clamp and downright sweat enducing. The sound was mediocre oooooook at best. Compared to my A700s they couldnt hold a candle in soundstage or comfort. The treble felt really recessed as well.

Monster Diamond tears or Monster DNA

From what've I read/heard from others the Diamond tears sound is quite a bit better in terms of being more neutral (less bloaty bass/rolled off treble). The DNA pretty much a better sounding beats solo.  I'd go the diamond tears route just on sound alone plus they look pretty darn sick

    Constructive "Anti-Beats" headphone discussion

Advocating a recommendation is a small challenge to the question bearer to research themselves. It's very much like giving directions on how to get to the city, but what they do once they get there is up to them.  Example: Fake-Question: "Just got some birthday money and I want some new...

    Constructive "Anti-Beats" headphone discussion

For I have a novel idea! Let's just not talk about it. We've been down this road many times before. If somebody likes a pair of beats, LET THEM ENJOY THEM AND STOP TELLING PEOPLE HOW TO ENJOY THEIR MUSIC.    Remember at the end of the day this all comes down to one thing, sound. Whether...

    Floating an idea...

Great idea on paper, was pursuing this for some time previously.   However at the end of the day nobody will bat an eye. Mostly because 90% of people buy Sub-$20 headphones in this day and age. If you can't compete at that price range it'll be very difficult to turn a profit without some...

    Thoughts on the Skullcandy Aviators?

Still own them, going on around three-four months. They're a fantastic set and they age quite well. Really quick engaging sound signature, it isolates the music from other people listening incredibly well and just for that it's worth the money. Sound signature wise they're a little warm with a...

    Razer Electra.

Let me bring a little light to the conversation   I've owned the Electras. They sound great! The sound is really understated. The bass is really nice and punchy (decent amount of impact) and the treble is a little rolled off so it's not super-piercingly treble only.  The downside is the...

SONY XB500 OR XB1000, which has more deeper bass and which shakes your head more?

Hola!   I've owned the XB700 (currently own the XB1000) and a demoed the XB500's around the same time as the XB700's. If you want raw "shake" then go the 500 route. They're less refined and the bass becomes inflated on pretty much every song regardless of what bass characteristics it...

what ever happened to the ATH-M50 craze around here?

Mostly it's been blown over as the flavor of the month.   I owned a set and ended up selling them within a few months. They were simply a mediocre non-engaging headphone. The bass extension was poor and sound stage sucked..should mention the clamping force was unnecessarily stiff and the...

    Xb500 Conclusion & XB600-XB800 review.

So I wanted to chime in a little bit. The XB series has an emphasis on bass, but each headphone has a different way of emphasizing it. Example, the XB500 which is a popular recommendation among the forums for having heavy bass impact quantity, but without having excessive bleeding into the mid...

    WORST headphone you ever heard?

Worst sounding headphones: Skullcandy 2XL earbuds. I needed a quick set in a pinch while I waited for my other pairs to go through an RMA process. Got these for $6.99 at a Wal-Greens--oh dear god I couldn't spend five minutes with them. They were GIANT for an ear bud, everything sounded like...

Help! i got trouble with ATH-m50

Just had a listen. The first song is a nice techno beat, but it's poorly mixed. Not only are the f and s sounds very sibilant by nature, but when you add an echo-delay where it's repeated  throughout it absolutely drowns out the treble response. When a very nice pair of headphones are used...

Headphones you regretted buying the most

Audio-technica M-50's. Had a pair around a month ago, used them for a month far past the burn in. They simply were not comfortable, the treble ceiling was so low. In trance it always sounded like those bright pads were getting cut off. Comparing head to head of my A700 to M50 with my rig, the...

    PA2V2 Picking Up Radio

Greetings! So here's the situation. I'm using Audio Technica ATH-A700's which I've had for the better part of a year; which run to a PA2V2 amp to my Computer via 3.5mm jack. They've been wonderful and up until recently haven't had a single problem with. Until last night which I began...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Did a little bit of reading/research. Right now the closest to what I'm looking for is looking to be: Shure 840: Like you said it has that extra boost in the treble so that static peak won't be prevalent which would solve what I'm looking for....but I'm looking also at the K701's...

Quote: V-moda M-80's Why? 1.) Under $200 2.) Sound fantastic 3.) Built like a tank 4.) Run fine off an iPod Never ask people to justify beats on an audiophile forum ;) . Argument boils down to the price point being substantially higher than the quality you're...
