Samsung Note 7 - just around the corner , audiophile phone?
Apparently the S7 820 used the normal qualcomm DAC, so the Note 7 is getting an upgrade.- GamaH

Doesn't Exynos already have a pretty decent one with Wolfson?- GamaH

Not sure. I don't own any UEs, but from the look of it, seems a little on the fat side.- GamaH

Ok, so I just checked -- took a pair of my SE535's cables to compare; looks like it won't work with the Westones. The connector is the same size, but the cable itself is too fat; due to the shape of the UM PROs, the cable won't fit. Smart move, Westone. Looks like I'm stuck with Westone cables.- GamaH

Is there any discernible difference between various stock cables? E.g., Shure and Westone? Currently, all Westone replacement cables are going for around $90, while Shure's are there at half the price, some even less, so it doesn't really make sense to get 1 Westone replacement cable when I...- GamaH

Does anyone know where to get a replacement cable for the UM50s? Most stores I see still sell the old cables for the UM3Xs.- GamaH

EarphoneSolutions.com sent out my replacement on Friday; just received it. Everything seems good. No wobble in connection, and no DOA or anything for that matter, so far.- GamaH

Absolutely nothing that shouldn't be done. I don't remove my earphones by pulling the wires, I don't handle them roughly, etc. I just seem to have a ton of issues with MMXC connectors.- GamaH

Yes! I miss the old pin configuration. I hate MMXC connectors with a passion. Seriously, 3 IEMs, 3 replacements is a bit much. Ughhh.. I've contacted EarphoneSolutions, what with it being an international order and all.- GamaH

Well, crap... It just so happens that I've encountered the exact same issue as I did with my previous 2 IEMs using MMXC connectors (SE535s). I'm just standing around (not even walking) and I get random bouts of sound cutting out on the right earpiece. Furthermore, if I manipulate the...- GamaH

So, my UM 50s just arrived. Gave them a test, both sides work. Build wise, it does actually feel lighter than the UM3X. There a tiny amount of glue showing on the left earpiece. The fit feels more or less identical (to my ears) to the UM3X, but they seem to fit just slightly better, in...- GamaH

Shure SE535: Reviews and First Impressions Thread
Ah, fair enough. Though, in my case, the cost of an identical product here is hiked up so much, it's still cheaper for me to deal with international warranty with shipping and all.- GamaH

But, Amazon isn't considered by Westone to be an authorized retailer, no? How will you deal with warranty issues, then? And, bummer. I just placed an order for the UM50s with EarphoneSolutions.com a minute ago. Fingers crossed that they don't have an issue...- GamaH

How is Westone's warranty regarding problems that are hard to replicate? For example, if I have a problem with the earpiece that tends to happen when I'm walking or in motion, but not when stationary (thus, odds are the issue might not surface during testing), and I send it in for repairs...- GamaH

What's the verdict on the new MMXC connectors? I've had a lot of problems with the Shure SE535's connectors (went through two sets of earphones; changed cables multiple times but problem turned out to be with the earpiece end of the connection). The sound kept cutting out.- GamaH

Any idea how the UM Pro 50s do for heavy metal music? I like how the UM3Xs sounded over the W4s, but I haven't really seen that many reviews on the UM Pro 50s.- GamaH

I have 2 pairs of SE535s, and both pairs have sound issues in the right earpiece. Quote: Yeah, it's happened to me before as well, but it's *definitely* not the song. Edit: I've tried it from a different source too (PC, Mac, and iPod) and I still have a temporary (split second or so) loss of sound on my right earpiece.- GamaH
