Historically ive often ended up with gold upper. As you say it seems to be the 'kindest' with treble

Dont get me wrong, i do take your point, although cymbals in some regards can sound tonaly really sweet they certainly dont take any prominence with music but in some ways thats what i love about them ! I think there is some trade off between natural tonality and the crash of brass with Avalon...

Very nice. Ive struggled with a few IMR's to get perfection although all of them have come close enough for sure. Have to say though that with my set up I could not be happier with Avalon. Everything is just perfect. Dont feel any need to look further in terms of tonality, timbre, imaging...
