Reply to review by 'kungmarten' on item 'ASUS Xonar Essence ST Headphone 7.1-Channel Audio Card for Audiophiles'

Sometimes you can just put another big card between your video card and the soundcard to reduce the interference. I know there are some overpriced dedicated interference reducing cards out there.

    Razer Surround (7.1 virtualization software)

I haven't tried it with movies, so I can't argue with you over the effects. What I did notice, however, is that the audio mix is very important. In NIN - Year Zero it was flawless, in Manowar - Warriors of the world it was separated. I guess it depends on how much crossover the audio...

    Razer Surround (7.1 virtualization software)

If you download this to enhance your stereo experience, then you're doing it for the wrong reason. To get the right experience, please uncheck all Audio checkboxes. Next, calibrate your headphones (I just leave them at default). The neat trick is that it acts as a playback device on your...

Reply to review by 'kungmarten' on item 'Beyer Dynamic DT 770 Premium 600 OHM Headphones'

Update: Instead of going back to the store I took the left can apart and just twiggled a bit with all parts. Now the distortion is completely gone. What worries me is that even though it works now, the distortion might come back. I really like beyedynamic but I don't know if I am willing to...

AKG240mkII: Unfortnuately, for you reasoning, the 80Ohms and 600 Ohms have been used on two completely different setups, and I have confirmed the problem with the 600 Ohms with a different setup. The 80 Ohms I blew by listening to Deadmau5 far too loud for far too long. I will return these...

LazBro123: Yes, I have the little Dot MK IV SE and tried them with others. Power is not the issue, unfortunately. Note that only the left can is distorted! Lorspeaker you lucky b***tard! I want to love these cans, but they seem to refuse my love :(

Review by 'kungmarten' on item 'Beyer Dynamic DT 770 Premium 600 OHM Headphones'

I bought these headphones as an upgrade from my BD DT-770 Pro 80Ohm. The are better in all areas, except that the right can can't handle bass. As soon as there are low bass it just becomes a distortion.  Same thing happened to my DT 770 Pro 80 after 4 YEARS of usage, which is OK (I listen to...

Review by 'kungmarten' on item 'Little Dot MK IV SE'

I ordered my amp directly from Little Dot. No problem with the delivery and everything worked great. A con is that you get the same power cord no matter where you live, so for me it was just to put the power cable in the trash (I'll probably never move to where I might need it, and if I do, I'd...

Hi! I just wrote a review of these cans where I complain on the low levels of bass and the "tin can" sound. How long did it take for you to praise these cans the way you did? I've listened for about 20 hours. Thank you, Mårten

Review by 'kungmarten' on item 'beyerdynamic T50p'

DISCLAIMER: I've not listened more than 20 hours on them.   If these headphones doesn't tur water into wine during the next 80 hours of listening, I declare these headphones as the worst buy ever.    The first time listening to these headphones left me with an impression of bad bass and...

FYI, the uDAC2 is quite good when I use it only as a DAC. It sounds really good when I hook it up to my headphone amp and my HD650.

    Need IEM suggestion for DEATHMETAL

I have a couple of Sony IEM (the cheap kind) that kicks my $40 more expensive Beyerdynamics ass when it comes to rock and metal. I actually use the Sony's more than my Beyerdynamic now. I don't know if it follows through the way up in price though, if you want something more expensive.

I'm going to try it just as a DAC next week, I'll let you now how it turns out. A lot of the drawbacks might be related to the headphone amps.

As I said, I think a lot of what you pay for is the form factor, at which it is hard to beat. Just as a D/A you got the TOS-link in the Mac and then you can hook it up to whatever or you got the M-Audio Fast Track or the Creative X-Fi HD. Try them and see what you like if you have the chance. It...

Reply to review by 'kungmarten' on item 'NuForce Icon uDAC-2 (Black) USB DAC (24bit/96kHz) and Headphone Amplifier'

At that pricerange there really aren't that many alternatives when it comes to form factor. But I would suggest a better sound card with a dedicated head phone amplifier if you got the space for it. My desktop's built in ASUS soundcard sounds better with with the HD202 but worse with the DT770...

Review by 'kungmarten' on item 'NuForce Icon uDAC-2 (Black) USB DAC (24bit/96kHz) and Headphone Amplifier'

My firs uDAC (v1) fried because of manufacturing problems. I got version 2 as a replacement. What I like about it is the ease of installation and portability. I use it mainly at work where my options are a bit limited. For this purpose the form factor is excellent. What bugs me though is the...
