The dot is positive polarity, most monitors have positive polarity facing upwards as noted, however a few may have the polarities reversed.

not sure if this thread is still active but the answer to your questing is the drivers are Knowles.

How are you finding the durability of the cable exit, does it show any signs of being able to pull the cable out of the earphone?

This is a stunning post, so much effort going into, great stuff.   Could I make a suggestion, it would be nice if you could include the Y-Split in the photo of the earphone, it is always interesting to see how manufacturers implement them.    

this is obviously a new driver setup from knowles, it looks on paper very good, it has a very smooth response, will have to get my hands on one. 

You must be one of the first people I have heard being open about being prejudice on testing something by name, if you get my drift. I follow another thread here on testing 3 different cable qualities without knowing which is which and it makes interesting reading and then when the results came...

Ok you cable gurus can anyone help.   I about to start making a new cable for my earphones, I am ok with the connectors at both ends but I am unsure of the best material to use for the wiring and insulation, also where to find a Y-split.   My requirements are not the normal audio quality...

I successfully created a mould using the RTV gasket silicone, it was a bit messy to us but apply 4 layers created a good workable mould. If mould silicone cannot be found I would recommend  using liquid latex first and RTV silicone as a last resort.   I have started to build a vacuum...
