    Audeze LCD-1

Long time lurker, bought these as my first real over the ear headphone and wanted to chime in quickly. I can echo what has been mentioned above here. Coming from IEMs, my perspective is a little different than most perhaps though. Also, I do not have endless pockets full of cash to blow on...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

IT03 was initially on my list too, but the A4 can be easily found through e.g. AliExpress for 170-180 USD. I got mine for a steal (barely 110 EUR; had some coupons), so I couldn’t convince myself to pay over 100 usd more for the IT03. Now the FLCL8 is probably a different story, but they were...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

No worries, no need to apologise. I didn't mention the tips I've been using though. I tend to use Sennheiser double flanges on everything, as I get a great seal with them and they are rather wide bore. I get good results for most IEMs, though the double flange supplied with the A4 seems to give...

    LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Good point, I was looking for early suggestions. In all fairness, it was actually in my post: Thanks! Have not had a go at the pink and greens yet, so will make sure to try. Tried the red backs real quick. Impactful bass, though I'll go back to black backs for now as I prefer the micro detail...

Long time lurker here, basically only posting when I need to replace a broken pair in order to save my wallet.. :dt880smile: Just wanted to share that I picked up a pair through Aliexpress to replace my Ortofon EQ-5 / JVC FXT 90 (from a seller who shall not be named, though to his respect I must...

    Ortofon e-Q5 Impressions Thread

I found they cleared up a little in the first couple of hours (i.e. I remember they sounded very tamed out of the box, but may have been due the fact that I was using the RE0 extensively the weeks before).   All in all a great IEM and have since gotten a replacement (own fault). What still...

    My Sad Story. To Hifiman.

Too bad to hear, really makes you wonder why things like detachable cables aren't standard on 150+ IEMs.. on a side note though, my re0s have been abused for over 3.5 years and are the only ones that have survived. a miracle, as these are my go-to IEMs for rain, snow, beach, pool, gym, etc. I've...

Quote: Don't get me wrong, the e-q5 fit your criteria nicely, especially coming from the E2c. Just wanted to put it out there in case you wanted stronger bass. :) FWIW, Grado recommends to burn moving armatures in for approx. 100 hours, They also respond quite nicely to a little bass boost...

Quote:   Quote:   Quote:   I love my e-Q5, but I would be lying if I'd agree that they have strong bass. IMO, a good dynamic (like the TDK IE800, the Sennheiser IE80 or supposedly the FX700) has a more natural quality to the bass than balanced or moving armatures have...

Quote: Unfortunately not an expert, but if you are not keen on bass, then I see no reason per se to upgrade both your source and get a C&C BH. You may not need the C&C BH if you don't get IEMs that are incredibly hard to drive. FWIW, my Cowon D2+ drives my IEMs just fine and I'd personally...

Quote:   Don't confuse the E2c with the SE215 (or SE2xx series in any case). The E2c is surely outdated now, and there are many options out there which would be much better, especially considering the price. Now the SE215 is a different story, as they are different IEMs altogether. So...

Quote: Saw your post too late, but good to see you didn't get the RE0; I know you said that you don't want boomy bass, but there is a difference between "no boomy bass" and "cold & anemic". Don't get me wrong, The RE0 does many things amazingly well, but bass quantity really isn't one of...

Quote: Agree, it's hard to imagine such a soundstage from such a tiny driver (search the boards, someone opened them up). Incredible, but don't expect that kind of a soundstage when you're moving away from the Sennheisers. The double flange tips work best for me and they don't really...

Quote: I'm assuming you mean the Sennheiser IE7? Are you sure that you're getting a good fit? I actually own them and by no means would I call them "light" sounding. In fact, they're a little veiled because of the thick bass and lower mids. The options you list are much brighter than the...

    TDK IE800 Dual High-Performance Dynamic Micro-Drivers IEM

+1, isolation us actually the best I've heard from a dynamic. Hate the cable though, feels rather fragile? Never had flat cables before though.

    TDK IE800 Dual High-Performance Dynamic Micro-Drivers IEM

I haven't had the chance to hear the BA200, but based on what I'm hearing and what I've read about the BA200, the IE800 is not necessarily better. I can imagine that some will find the IE800 a little harsh on the treble. All I can say is that I find them spectacular, even at the original 90 EUR...

    TDK IE800 Dual High-Performance Dynamic Micro-Drivers IEM

Quote: Agree on the natural quality; they're transparent for sure, but retain that typical organic sound a dynamic driver is ofter associated with. Really enjoying them and a very very solid IEM. They are btw surprisingly hard to drive considering the rated impedance and sensitivity. In...

    TDK IE800 Dual High-Performance Dynamic Micro-Drivers IEM

Just got my IE800 and have been listening to them for a couple of hours. First impressions: nice. :) Seperation is good, especially for a dynamic driver. Response sounds rather neutral, with a slight warmth in the bass and perhaps a little emphasis on the treble. I can't really detect any veil...

Backup or something different? For 250 you could get a 2nd ie80, definitely if you are considering used items..

The fxz200 should indeed hit harder in the bass, but good points. Besides the fxz200, all I can think of is the sennheiser ie80, but yoi would be hard pressed to find those under 200 new outside of Europe.. and otherwise, if you need to go a little cheaper, the fxz100 may be an alternative...

You can try tenso.com, though keep in mind that you may have to deal with customs duties when importing from Japan. Also, you may want to consider the GR07 Bass Edition if the fxz turns out to be too expensive.
