Do you find yourself more often in the Tube camp or the Solid State camp?
Where's the hybrid option? I have a LD I+, that's essentially both.- DittoBox

Q40 vs SR80i vs SR125i
Hmm, this is entirely opposite of what I read about the 125/225 when I did research on them before purchasing the 125. I read here and several other places that the only difference between the 125i and 225i was that the drivers were more closely matched in the 225i and that the cabling was of...- DittoBox

Objective cable testing
By your own admission the differences in sound with different cables are so nil as to require literally days or even months of individual study under very tight controls that eliminate or diminish most other factors. By applying Occam's razor to your argument we can logically demonstrate that... -
Objective cable testing
I think the mind can literally invent positive results, even with a lack of actual scientific progress: Placebos help, even when patients know about them. Blind testing by its very nature eliminates bias. That's the entire point of it. To claim that the tests are flawed because it takes time... -
Songs with higher bitrate...
http://www.jamendo.com/en/ Creative commons music is a legal option, though you won't find anyone really popular in the radio sense on there. There are some gems though. There's also noisetrade which has some decent artists that let you donate what you want: https://noisetrade.com/- DittoBox

Objective cable testing
Cognitive dissonance plays a huge role in audiophile, wine, art and other highly subjective cultures. This isn't a bad thing, unless people are being taken advantage of (e.g. 10,000% mark up on 3" cables) and the basic economic waste associated with that. Development costs cannot possibly be... -
Source for iPod Touch (4 gen) right angle LOD?
Anyone know where I can get one for less than 30USD? I've been using a non-right angle LOD for a while on an iPod Nano 4th gen that I know will not work on my new Touch. I also know that I do not want to add extra strain on the either the dock connector or the cables, which I know the current...- DittoBox

Recommendation for some new computer speakers.
This setup is a bit large, and I don't think you can get a deal like this again, but I picked up a pair of M-Audio BX5a Active Monitors for 75USD (normally close to 300USD) about a year and half ago. They sound fantastic. I recently added a refurbished Polk PSW110 10" 100W sub for 135USD off of... -
The FiiO X3 Thread UPDATE: Project Back On! Read the First Post for Information.
Personally I'd love to see plenty of storage, or a way to drop in a large (mini)SD card. M4A, gapless and library based on tag data. Decent DAC with line level out.- DittoBox

Why are headphone amps important?
It's a bit like the difference between a naturally aspirated petrol engine and turbo diesel engine. Petrol engines are like not having an amp. They produce lots of power and torque on a narrow curve, usually peeking in power and torque at the higher end of the rev range. Turbo diesels are like...- DittoBox

How to get sound from my Xbox360 S when playing on my computer screen?
I'm not sure where or if you can get them in Sweden, but I purchased mine off of eBay. Mine was actually shipped from (and I believe even manufactured in) America, though there are plenty of them from China. Look for, "Xbox optical adapter." The quality isn't awful, but I don't think the DAC in... -
Not receiving verification email
Howdy. It seems I've not received the verification email. I've had it resent twice, but it's never arrived. I have received a subscription digest from the forum though. It isn't in my spam box either. Any ideas? Thanks!- DittoBox

Nuforce uDAC2-HP - high performance 24bit/96kHz USB DAC and headphone amp at incredible price point of $99
Quote: Short for potentiometer, which is a technical term for a volume control knob. Some knobs are of higher quality than others. I'm sure there are some here that can explain why some are better, but from what I gather it has to do with the quality of materials used, which translates into...- DittoBox

Little Dot I+, Grado SR125i, and tube rolling questions
I just picked up an OPA2107 for 4USD from a local supplier. I'll try that one as well as the OPA2227 from my current amp. I also found lot of 5 of those GE 5654 for about 10USD. I thought about grabbing a pair of OPA627s and a browndog adapter, but those 627s seem overpriced compared to some of...- DittoBox

Little Dot I+, Grado SR125i, and tube rolling questions
Quote: These aren't matched, I don't think, they're just a pair. I'll try the stock to begin with and maybe find a couple of others to see how they sound. Microphonic meaning that it is affected by vibrations more so than other types of tubes? Thanks! Quote: You might be...- DittoBox

Little Dot I+, Grado SR125i, and tube rolling questions
Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster. After reading many reviews a few months back I purchased the Grado SR-125i's, as an upgrade for my Senn HD280s. For my budget, they're fantastic. I've used a BioScienceGeek cmoy for years with my Senns, but they were customized for 64Ω and 150Ω...- DittoBox
