I can bring my DENON AHD-7000s, AKG K271s, K240s, and my iBasso B4 Mamba, for what that's worth.- rushupedge

Headphones in the Columbus area?
I was wondering, are there any high-end (~$1k) headphone retailers in the Columbus area where I could go and give some cans a listen? I'm kind of disappointed with my D7000s and want to try the competition from Sennheiser, Grado, and Beyerdynamic.- rushupedge

no more beats..but what??...need help...(first post)
The way I see it, you have $300 and you want headphones. You can either get headphones designed and tested by a team of engineers with fancy degrees who have been making headphones their whole lives...or you can have Dr. Dre and Monster do it. Dre is a good rapper but he doesn't know crap about...- rushupedge

D-7000s causing me pain, literally
Quote: I'm using an iBasso Mamba, which is a portable amp. It seems to have taken some of the edge off but can only seem to get to listenable volumes at the high end of its range so maybe you're right. e: Also, for anyone out there still wondering, let me assure you: burn-in is...- rushupedge

D-7000s causing me pain, literally
Is there any evidence that the J$ pads do anything for this? I'm eager to save the DENONs because they're otherwise very texturally rich with a massive soundstage, they're comfortable, and look great.- rushupedge

D-7000s causing me pain, literally
I just got my iBasso Mamba B4 today, and that didn't fix the problem either. Do the GS-1000i have this problem? What of the Tesla T1? Is there any software that can help deal with this? I'm running Snow Leopard.- rushupedge

D-7000s causing me pain, literally
It's playing off of my MacBook Pro right now (still waiting for my amp to come,) but even when I play them through my Edirol UA-1EX I still face the issue. I'll try burning them in more. Quote:- rushupedge

I don't seem to have the problem at low volumes, but once I turn it up to the level I want to listen at, the piercing-ness begins...- rushupedge

D-7000s causing me pain, literally
I got a pair of Denon AHD-7000s recently, but I have a problem. Certain notes in the high end are literally causing me pain, like when "s"es are pronounced by a female vocalist, or cymbals, I'm not sure what to call them really in musical terminology. I didn't have this problem with my AKGs or...- rushupedge

Can anyone compare the GS-1000s to the beyerdynamic Tesla T1? Again, I'm not looking for neutrality or accuracy so much as a fun, romantic listening experience.- rushupedge
