Oh, you're the third person in this thread to have a problem with the right driver. It does sound like loose driver: it rattles at some frequencies, but it doesn't explain the channel imbalance. It must be defective. I tried your solution, will see how it goes with amazon. Thanks!

Unfortunately my pair of DT1770 also developed driver imbalance: the right driver is noticeably quieter than the left one.   I'm out of the return window at Amazon, so I cannot send it back. I got in touch with the service center, but they don't have parts for it yet, since it's a new model...

  Thanks! For me the TH-900 were also more comfortable than NADs, but I didn't like the sound too much. The mids were too recessed which isn't ideal for classical music. Especially for the price.

  Wow, 4 hours..... That's pretty fast.   My whole build, including wiring, took me about 35-40 hours - almost a month of work. Granted I could only work for 1-2 hours every day.

Thanks a lot smitty1110!   BTW, I don't hear microphonic with the Mainline, at least not to the level of Vali. Are you using tube covers for 6c45pi's? They are supposed to suppress microphonics among other things.
