Hi, In my short experience, the 2.5 trrs balanced connection gives a wider soundstage.  Everything else was relatively similar on the two cables except for the soundstage.  And that's what I loved best about the AK240SS and layla combo.     As for wondering about upgrading to the layla's...I...

No doubt it's heavier :)  It's a solid brick feeling in my pants haha but I compared it to the store's demo duralium AK240 and I liked the sound difference.  Not night and day, but spatially slightly more expansive and worth it to me (since I didn't already have an AK240).

Yup before the update everything was working great. It's not that the player is broken now, it is however very annoying that I don't know when it'll die on me.

Hi jamato I've done numerous factory resets to no avail. I even tried rooting the phone and using the battery calibration app to see if it'd work. It didn't. I'm thinking at this point it may be a hardware error now that's been exposed. I've only had this player for 3 weeks so its dying already
