Yes - sorry I missed that. You can use the 2i2 as your dac and run it to powered speakers. Or if you bought unpowered speakers you would run it to the amp then the amp to your speakers.

Are you looking to power headphones, speakers, or both? Regardless, you’ll need a digital to analog converter (dac) to convert your computers digital signal into analog which will then go to your amplifier via rca cables (could be headphone amp or speaker amp). I would not get a Sony home...

Sadly I'm parting ways with my Gungnir and am selling it in the for sale forum. I can definitely see why some would love this DAC but in the end it just wasn't for me.

This may be a silly question but is the PS Audio perfectwave MK II still considered a strong contender among the other dacs that are out right now? I have the gungnir but was considering buying a used perfectwave. I've done a lot of research, just wasn't sure if this dac was outdated at all yet...

Looks like I will be able to make it after all. I'm not sure if there will be space but I will bring my Gungnir, HD600s, and Bottlehead crack. 

I think it just boils down to which equipment you are using and what you are listening to. I'm going to try my friends he-500/emotiva setup tomorrow and see how I like it.

    Yeah you're right, it was more the interaction between the two rather than the Gungnir itself from what I read. 

  That makes sense, however, everything I've read actually says that the gungnir isn't a good pair with the HD800s due to harsh treble. I think it's just entirely track dependent. I guess it's all personal preference though. 

  That's a good point, I have considered that too. Can you EQ specific tracks in foobar or any other software like jriver?

I would just go the HD600 route. They are really comfortable. I didn't have to do this, but if they are too tight put them around a shoe box or something overnight. I have big ears and wear them all day at work with no issues whatsoever. Plus they are on sale right now for $255...

Have you thought of just going with Sennheiser HD600s? They are open back and might not sound phenomenal out of your iphone since they are 300 ohms but they are on sale right now at http://flash.newegg.com/Product/9SIA29P2CE2070 for $255 until Sunday. The E-MU 0404 should work well with them...
